Well, I've done two clutches in two years. When I was putting my 530i back together, I got a new friction and pressure plate. Everything is grand since then. Just did the clutch on my sundance (sorry guys, its a good winter car). Flywheel and/or pressure plate were warped and friction plate had gouged the flywheel. Got it machined (resurfaced) for $15, new pressure plate and friction plate for $150 or so, and a few hours of work, no problem. It's even easier on a RWD car. Besides, its a rewarding job to drive your car off the wheel ramps and take it for a romp after you fix it. :) Be sure to check rear engine seal for wetness - if its wet, change rear seal or you're doing all that work for nothing.

Let us know how things work out...

: Well it looks like it's not a bleeding prob. Pressure plate springs are breaking down.
: Don't know how many miles are on this clutch (car has 130K) I'm assuming it's the second but I never get any slip so maybe it is the original. Any way to tell when it comes off? What is the average price for a clutch job.
