: Wietse-
: I have heard this to be the case, but I have never talked to anybody who has actually used E28 doors on an E12. I do know that the window trim is a little different cosmetically, and that the doors have different BMW part #'s. I have an '81 with working PW & PL. Send me your e-mail address, this could be your lucky day.
: : I have been doing some research and it seems the doors
: : from an e28 will fit an e12.
: : The center section of the car front wind sheild to rear

: : C post.
: : Has anyone played with this?? I will probably paint my
: : car in a year or so and would like to get PW, PL and
: : the updated mirrors at that time. This would make
: : that conversion easier. Late e12 (1979 to 1981) doors,
: : with passenger mirrors and working PW,PL are not easy
: : to come by.
In answer to your question. Yes it is possible. The doors
are the same size as the e12. All the power bits will transfer.
Only a couple of things to look out for, the early model mirrors
from the e12 (chrome) don't fit and there will be a bit of scuffing
on the B pillar as the e28 doors are slightly different. This
won't cause you too much of a problem. If you have any further
questions, e-mail me.
