Samir,
I tried your suggestion on my daily driver, Euro 528i with M535i motor,M535i ECU
and Euro 528i distributor. I plugged retard and advance line then set new idle speed
by rotating distributor clockwise (retarding) then hooked advance line to retard
fitting on distributor.Heres my results:
The car seemed to have slightly more power at bottom end but midrange and top end
seemed to suffer. By hooking the advance vaccum line to the retard dist. fitting you definately
are not going to get pinging of the engine(very retarded timing at high rpm), but in my case the
engine will not rev beyond 5000rpm easily. Also the car seemed to run hotter like the
timing was off. I didn't leave them connected this way for very long so I can't attest to any mileage
increase or decrease.
After reconnecting everything and retiming of the car it ran much better. More even power curve
and revs fine to 6500 rpm. But I never had much trouble with pinging before I did all this. Use premium gas.
Regards,
Frank
