On my '79 528i, there are two temp. switches on the radiator to control the fan. There is a "low" temp. switch that turns on the aux. fan (low speed) at 91 degrees Centigrade (~196 Farehneit). There is "high" temp. swith that turns on the aux. fan (high speed) at 99 degrees Centigrade (~210 Farenheit). What was BMW thinking?!

For my taste, both of these are too high. Keep in mind that you have (most likely) a 76 degree (~168 Farenheit) thermostat in the car. There are 82 degree switches available that will turn on the fan sooner.

If it was mine, I'd put one in the high temp. socket so the fan would come on at high speed much sooner. After all, the thermostat is supposed to regulate the engine temperature - not the fan.

I think BMP used to sell them. (I believe it is an Audi part.)
