Incredibly enough I was able to find a similar gear at work (we work on stereos). A little improvising and it's on. The gear is also 11 teeth, like the one in my speedo. Slightly smaller and teeth slightly thinner. Reamed it out a little and pressed it on to small spacer (about 1/4" long) from Radio Shack. Then blue loctited it on to the speedo shaft. I does work.
This speedo is a 220 km/h euro that I got from Frank Haas. My US 85mph also has the split gear. I think I'm going to run this in place on a motor for a day or 2 before I install. I think the fix is good though.
Should I take a picture (yet another hack job)and send it in?
