: Friends,
: If you will recall, I posted a message a few weeks back about an E28 528e I found un-used for the last 8 years. I've basically freed up the engine, it cranks freely now. I've also replaced the timing belt, filters, water pump, etc. All wires have been re-conected (rats ate thru them) and There is spark in the plugs, fuel on the rails, BUT, car still won't start!!! While cranking it back-fired several times. I take this to mean there is fuel and park in the cylinders. My question is, what could be wrong???? I know there could be a million things but bear with me. What areas should I check???? I've made sure the cam timing is correct, the plg wires are correct and a friend suggested checking the crank position sensor, wether it's clean and connected, but I don't know the test procedure for the electronics, the sensors and others. I need your help fellas, thanks in advance.
Are you sure you have fuel? You may have just had a little squirt from cold start valve (I think they have those on Motronic?). Are the plugs wet?
