Car of the Month - October 2003

Cars of the Month

The Car of the Month for October belongs to:
Wilbert Ollison

Here's what Wilbert has to say about his car:

"After two bargain E12's that I began buying in 1996 to provide bulletproof protection for my two kids in high school, I bought my latest E12 in the spring of 2000. The car a 1981 528i automatic, Polaris Metallic(Silver) with Red leather interior had 52k original miles."

"It was all original down to the exhaust and the spare tire. After an eleven hour return trip home from the US Grand Prix, I realized just how original(OLD) some of the parts were. I begain to see steam less than a mile from home. I then replaced all the hoses and eventually the radiator. Since then I have installed stainless steel brake lines all around and had the rear calipers rebuilt by White Post Restorations located near Winchester Virginia."

"Additional upgrades include 8mm ignition wires from BAV AUTO, Jacobs Energy coil, K&N cone filter, high output alternator, CIBIE headlights with Piaa and Catz bulbs and a 270 watt stereo featuring a blaupunkt CD player and six Mb Quart speakers."

"The car now has less than 76k on the odometer. It shares weekend and evening duties with my 75 2002 and it provides reliable transportation on trips to Indy, Nazereth, PA ,VIR, and back to my native Ohio. It averages about 16 mpg in town and close to 23 mpg on the highway."

"I plan on having the car repainted (still in great shape), a free flow exhaust system fabricated using a BORLA muffler and finally having the mint FOHA airdam and rear spoiler that I purchased used locally years ago installed, once I get those same two kids out of college in about a year and a half."
