Idles but dies when I give it gas

Need a little help here….
My son is 4 hours away and his 1980 E12 has developed an issue. He had a bad alternator and so he changed it out. Now the car runs at idle but as soon as he tries to give it any gas; it dies. They have cleaned all of the ground connections and still no luck.
Any ideas?

Yeah thinking since we did the auto to manual swap on the transmission we would stay with the theme... :D All kidding aside, I like the idea of less is more on this car.

Sorry... been busy with harvest. Winding down now and should be able to start thinking about the tranny swap again.

Surging idle and dying…

My son’s (Spark-III) ’80 528i developed two issues which I don’t believe were related. About a month ago after driving for a while and when he would come to a stop the idle would surge up and down quite dramatically. After searching the archives I tried the suggestion of unplugging one of the ...

Try this:

Go to Google

Enter site:firstfives.org

Then keyword (e.g. turn signal relay)

Press enter to search.

You get any posts that contain keyword including the archives.

After fumbling around trying to search for answers to my questions, I was able to find them in less than five minutes ...

In lieu of shop manuals, trying to help:

And yes, I've been there, reading stupid stuff that didn't help. If you can manage to Google search the archives, type in the subject, question that results in finding the search words in the First Fives archives, fat city. Most all problems got listed and ...

There’s a gremlin hiding in the car…

A couple days ago the turn signals quit working on the e12. Yesterday when I got home from work the emergency flashers were on, I pushed the flasher button and nothing. So I pushed harder and quickly and they went off. Later that evening someone came to the door to tell me the flashers were on again ...

De-badge Zender rear deck lid spoiler

Question,
How would you remove the M535I badge off the Zender rear deck lid spoiler? Using floss or fishing line works on body parts but the Zender spoiler is made of soft material and I’m not sure how to get it off without damaging it.
