Re: cylinder head swap

OK so I was curious about those pistons and asked my BMW guru buddy and he said all b28s had those pistons so its nothing special. Sorry I got over excited. Another guy I know found a 528i in a yard a while back with the head off and asked me the same thing. I'll be doing the same thing later on my ...

Re: cylinder head swap

I'm not positive myself. I've always heard about piano top pistons in the high comp euro engines. No first hand experience myself. I didn't know they came in NA engines. Worth looking into.

Re: Swapping combo relay from a 76 530i to a 77 530i ?

I think it would work, but that's a guess. I suspect the black plastic case is more an indicator of much more recent manufacturing than a different part and possibly also a part number supercede to explain that difference too. I can tell you my 77 530i originally had a metal case combo relay too. I...

Re: Bolt length for BBS RA?

I just put a staggered set of RAs on my 530i. 7x16,8x16 I bought these bolts after seeing online somewhere this was the size to get. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ED4W8A4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I also measured the amount the stock bolt protruded from the stock wheel ...

Re: Euro bumper rubber trim to bumper "fasteners"?

Karl, Yeah I haven't even removed the NA bumper yet so I still have that and the cutting off of the NA bumper bracket to do. Just working myself mentally up to the purchase of the new rubber. Great luck finding euro bumpers at a yard, I've picked parts from a bunch of e12 in yards but never a euro.

Looks amazing Eric. I am looking for two more 320i intakes to have enough to do that modification as well. What did the glass beading cost?

Re: Euro bumper rubber trim to bumper "fasteners"?

Heres a pic of my newly rechromed rear euro bumper . It has two holes/attachment points. The top hole lines up with the molded in stud in the rubber trim piece. The lower hole with the floating bolt lines up to part no 51111860064. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48251780337_f8f1311de5.jpg UNADJ...

Re: Euro bumper rubber trim to bumper "fasteners"?

These things . part no . 51111860064 . Are $3.50 on Pelicans and ECS website. I would try your local BMW dealer. My dealer can usually get Euro parts if they are available.

Re: Starts fine runs for 12 seconds then stalls out?

Drained out the bad fuel? How bad? Could the tank be full of crap? Filter? Maybe the injectors have been plugged with crap? Or the strainer in the tank. I don't know if it sounds like a condenser problem but a new one is cheap. Hows the fuel pressure?

Re: O2 sensor location

Very interesting info Mike, as always. I recently calculated my fuel economy and got about 15.5 L/ 100KM which I considered not too bad considering I just got my car running after 30 years. I drive with a fairly heavy foot in this car because its a lot of fun and I also do a fair bit of sitting in b...

Re: Heater fan inop

Yes I guess that makes sense to keep the resistor cool, sure make it a pain to remove thought. All in all I didn't find any of this really to hard its very time consuming kind of awkward leaning into the dash to disconnect everything. Disconnecting the two shafts that control heat and the where the ...
