Question: Need a Rear Muffler Source

I'm trying to find a rear muffler for my 81 528i, with 5 speed manual. Does anyone have a reliable source for a direct bolt on muffler. I've been all over EBAY, Google, etc. I haven't had any luck. When I call or reach out, the part is NLA. I'm hoping someone here on the site has one that they never...

Re: Speedo & Odometer Just Quit Working

Thank you for your feedback.
It seemed weird that they both stopped working at the same time.

Speedo & Odometer Just Quit Working

Three weeks ago, all of a sudden the Speedo and Odometer in my 1981 528i just quit working. Nothing major happened, no accidents, no bumps, or driving through standing water. The car has 127,000 original miles, and everything has always worked perfectly. I have no idea what caused this, or what to d...

Suspension Bushing Replacement

I want to replace all of the most important, or critical front bushings. My 1981 E12 has 122,000 original miles on it. Below is a list of the ones I have on order right now. Set of 4 Front Suspension Stabilizar bushings. Set of Bushing for Stabilizing Rod in Cross Member Front Set of Bushing for Low...

Left Rear Door Latch

My left rear door latch never opens properly. I can get the rear door to open with lots of effort. But then it also takes a fair amount of effort to get it to close and properly latch again. Not a big deal, since I'm the only one who drives the car, and I'm usually alone. So, about 4 months ago I bo...

Turn Signal Relay Options

They are extremely pricy, and the correct version will cost you in excess of $200.00 on Ebay, and all over. I forwarded you the contact info for a member on this site who helped me out for $50.00. I know he had a second Flasher Relay he was willing to also part with. He's a good guy, and an excellen...

Turns out the ignition switch was bad. We replaced it, and we also replaced the flasher relay too. Things are back to normal...for the moment.

Turn Off and remove the key...power stays on

When I turn off the engine, and remove the key...the power stays on, the dash warning lights, etc. all stay on. It happened last Sunday, apparently, the power stayed on all night, and my battery was totally dead. I had to replace it. Why is the car doing that. Does that mean the ignition is bad, or ...

I live in Texas where each day feels hotter than July...I use Royal Purple 20 /50 synthetic in my E12 (121,000 orig miles), and I still prefer to change the oil every 2500 miles or 12 months.
Redline MTL in the tranny.

Thanks Grip and Mike...today I cleaned the front and rear connectors and replaced the bulbs and fuses. But the result was the same. So...I'm going to remove the bulbs and clean the connectors again to see what happens. Those Flasher Relays are crazy expensive...even on Ebay. Right now, I'm scratchin...

Flashers and Hazard are Blinking fast and Super Fast

Well I replaced the Hazard Flasher switch with a brand new one. Plugged it in....and yet I still have the same problem. Nothing changed. The signal lights, and the 4 way flashers still blink fast, and sometimes Super Fast. So is it possible it could be something else associated with flasher controls...

Flashers and Hazard are Blinking fast and Super Fast

My 81 e12...the flashers and hazards blink fast, and sometimes super fast. I'm confused...all the Front and Rear bulbs on the Left and Right are in good working condition. What is causing this problem. What the fix. I've read about a "Flasher Relay"...could this be the villain. If so, what...

Thank you Thomas! Those are two great suggestions. I was unaware, and non of the shops discussed it with me.

I will definitely insist on some extra clear coats, and the "non water based" paint.
