Re: M30B35 Swap
A few clarifications: I understand that I sould use an e12 oil sump and pump. About the pump, should I use the B35 main body and a e12 pick up tube? I have read here and other forums about some oil pressure issues but was unclear. I have a 528I sump and pump for this aspects of the swap. Use the pum...

Re: We did it: E28 subframe swap...
Two quick questions: What driveshaft did you end up using? From an E28 or E12? Or both? With the car on the ground, can you tell if the wheel center is pushed off center a bit? When I was considering this, laying everything out, it looked like the rear hubs were slightly off between the E28 setup an...

Re: cylinder head swap
I was thinking that too, leave the centrifugal advance to keep the rotor 'near' the correct point. Let me stop you right there. Don't allow any advance from the distributor if using Motronic 1.#, because that's the DME's job. Motronic needs a stable point to advance/retard timing from, not a moving...

Re: Brake Booster hose connection
It’s tight but yes it pulls straight out.brotherhay wrote: ↑Wed Jul 25, 2018 6:24 pm so to get that elbow off of there, just pull directly out?
I heeded the advice, new hose, check valve but no grommet just yet. was hoping I can find one locally rather than spend $10 to have one shipped

Re: Brake Booster hose connection
I bookmarked that site right away.... I had been there before, but that will really help in the future. Got a camera in on the connection that I spoke of, which is #3 on the parts list. When looking close at the pic, I can tell the culprit is #2. I can see that its split as well as not seated prope...

Truth Hurts edition, Chapter Twelve.
As you’ve noticed, it’s more expensive to have rebuilt than to buy new. The only reason to send a used shock in to be rebuilt is because you’re also having it revalved for competition use. The unpublished reality is it’s less to have a leaking or blown out shock rebuilt as long as it’s relatively yo...

Are you just looking for the compressor, or the complete setup including the mount to the block? Most people got rid of that setup because the bushings in the mount aren’t replaceable and it’s easier to just get a later setup. I’m pretty sure I have at least one. Are you wanting one for free or are ...

Again, just for someday maybe. What are the odds my two compressors will only need a charge of R134a and work fine ? Unless the system has had all the seals replaced with the 134 compatible ones, and especially if you have the ancient compression fittings with no seals, chances are you will spend t...

The bosses in the block where the a/c compressor bracket mounts are the same throughout the years on the m30; its the bracket itself that has changed. What this means is all you have to do to use a later style compressor is use the later brackets, meaning almost anything with an m30 after ‘82 or so ...

You do not need to rotate the crank to adjust the int and exhaust separately. Also, use a flashlight if you have to, but go by the lobes facing down. Trying to judge when an opposing cylinder's lobes are pointing up is definitely not the way to do it. Get a piece of paper and a sharpie. Write the nu...

The vinyl isn't too hard to come by in that texture, and SEM has a gray that matches the original pretty much exactly. That's probably the best route, unless you have nothing at all, and need the fibre board backing. In that case, just find a set in any condition, not too warped, and either re-cover...
