Electrical grmilin - Turn signal and radio dead

Weird question for you guys. I noticed that when I was driving with my radio on, the radio would occasionally cut out for about a second when 1) I engaged reverse 2) engaged a turn signal. The other day, I engaged the turn signal and the radio died and the turn signal no longer worked. Oddly, the tu...

Early/Late Shocks/Struts

I've got a 1975 E12 and was curious about the front struts. I see that they changed in 1976 to accommodate the later calipers and vented rotors, but I was curious as to how interchangeable components are between the early/late model struts. Are the shocks the same, can the calipers/discs be swapped ...

That's really interesting - thanks for the reply. What is the best route to tuning up the injectors, or ensuring they are still within allowable spec? Just send them out to get cleaned and then find out if any/all need to be replaced? I was surprised to see how expensive they are - I haven't checked...

e12 Fuel Rail Setup

My e12 is a 1975 530i, and over the next few months I was planning to overhaul the coolant system along with the fuel lines. Just curious about the fuel rail setup. The early E12 'fuel rail' is more of a collection of hoses and fittings than anything else, and I was wondering is anyone has ever upgr...

Mike W. - I actually just bought my first E12 and when i was talking to the previous owner he said he prefers to just take off the whole housings and keeps a few replacement gaskets around. I thought that was just plain nuts. My other car is a 318is, and one of the joys of the M42 design is the upri...

Thanks for the information - I may just keep my eye open for either of the later designs. My preference would be for the later design from either the E34 or E32 - anyone know if it will clear the bananas on the stock intake.

Oil Filter Housing

Question: I have a 1975 530i with an early style oil filter housing, and I'm curious about the possibility of updating to a later design. Based on what i can see in realoem, the m30 went through three housing designs: 1) Early (part #11421252464 - used on E3, E9, E12, E24) - which has a bolt inserte...
