Re: Reviving 528i - No Start - Advice Needed

Hey thanks for the follow up. I’m glad you were able to figure it out. If you stare at a problem long enough eventually you’ll figure it out.

Re: Reviving 528i - No Start - Advice Needed

I had a similar problem with mine. It had sat at a shop for years before it was gifted to me. I tried all the things you did. After many failed attempts I tried an old school trick of using starter fluid to start the car and keep it running with it. Did this multiple times for periods of maybe 5mins...

Have you been able to install the reground cam yet? If so how’s the performance change?

Re: Schrick 284 camshaft I have questions

I've always been under the impression that replacing the stock camshaft on a U.S. 528 or 530 with a Schrick 282 or 284 grind may require timing adjustments but not much else. I'm using e21 intake runners, stock L-jetronic and Stahl long tube headers on an otherwise stock 2.8. Has anyone had to add ...

Re: BMW E12 Water/Heater valve

$160? Something in the mid-100s, I think. Hey TheotherOtter, I just wanted to thank you for pointing me to Carl at La Jolla Independent. Perfect excuse to make a drive to SoCal for some sun. He was a stand out guy and had both the Heater valve and Heater core. They weren’t cheap by my standards but...

Re: BMW E12 Water/Heater valve

Yes, that heater control joint design is about as brilliant as the 911’s headlamp mounting design. @satisfiedincorporated made some DIY joints using a universal joint and if you don’t feel like DIYing your own and can’t find an original one that hasn’t broken yet, he can be talked into making some ...

Re: BMW E12 Water/Heater valve

I asked about splitting the heater box because I have to replace the heater core. I myself can also use another u joint for the heater control. What a terrible design that BMW went with. There’s so many different ways that they could’ve done it that would last longer. I hope LaJolla Independent has ...

Re: BMW E12 Water/Heater valve

Ok awesome!!! Btw did you happen to slip apart the heater box? I’m having a hard time doing it due to the plastic rod that runs across both halves and operate the blend doors. Also how much did they charge you for the water valve?

BMW E12 Water/Heater valve

So I made the mistake of trying to rebuild my heater box. It’s been a headache to say the least. Does anyone know where I can source a water valve? It’s the part that connects between the heater core and coolant pipes. I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Also does anyone know where I can get the heate...
