Re: Sideloader is a 188mm?

Mike you're right, there could be some minor differences that make this unrealistic. I wondered why in the 30+ years the sideloader and next gen diffs have existed no one has done this. Maybe people have and just didn't write about it on the internet. Either way it's unfortunate I think I'm about 10...

Sideloader is a 188mm?

Discussing this with forum member Eric, I'm pretty certain the sideloader center, ring and pinion are all the same 188mm parts as in the e28/e30/e34/e36 despite the different case shapes. Why does anyone care? Because it means if it is, you could upgrade your open sideloader to LSD by using a center...

Re: e28 subframe upgrade

Swaybar. I considered using the e12 bar or the e34 bar and welding up mounts on the subframe (as they're both subframe mounted), and a number of other options. My requirement was it couldn't hang low, the exhaust is already too low for my liking and the subframe mount options were all going to be aw...

Re: e28 subframe upgrade

e-brake cables - I used the e28 cables but the tubes on the e28 chassis are longer and come out behind the subframe, not before. My solution - I measured the diameter of the tubes https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53562579993_6629482e97_b.jpg 9mm, so I ordered some stainless steel tubes with an in...

e28 subframe upgrade

I've successfully upgraded my e12 with an e28 subframe, and wanted to share my experiences in case it inspired or helped someone else. As we know, it's a direct swap but the e-brake and swaybar both need to be solved. Initial pickup https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53562795695_e48410b803_b.jpg Fi...

Re: Steering lock kill switch?

As Mike said, sounds like your ignition switch. If you haven't ever replaced it, you may need to soon - they eventually fail and don't engage the starter. Wriggling it around to make it work sounds like it might be on its way out. If you replace it, don't get one of those plastic-cased ones, they fa...

Re: Windowsill rubber replacement

Update to this - I finally worked on this on last weekend. I found you don't need to remove the chrome at all. Lower the glass all the way and look in with a flashlight. The outside weatherstripping sits in clips underneath the chrome, and you can 'just' pull the old stuff out with pliers, then with...

Re: Cv joint

I actually had to pull one of my CV joints off the wheel the other day. It looks to me like those straps are to hold the thin steel of the CV cover tightly and evenly against the hub. The CV joint is full of grease and has no seal on either side, so the straps apply even pressure on the edge of the ...

Re: Blade fuse upgrade

I was able to source ceramic bullets during the last few years, possibly from Walloth Nesch because they're shown at $1.69 each. Lock, are the green LEDs on the Holy Grail board illuminated when the fuse is active? A handy feature, that. Hey Eric, the LEDs are illuminated green when the circuit is ...

Re: Windowsill rubber replacement

Thank you both. I started tugging on it but it felt 50/50 like it was either coming off, or about to break something that's NLA. The plastic trim tool/knives is a great idea. I have a bunch of plastic tint applicators, I'll give that a shot.

Windowsill rubber replacement

Does anyone know how to remove the door outside windowsill chrome and replace the rubber weather-stripping for the doors? Mine has disintegrated and rain is getting in the doors so bought some new rubbers. Before I go and take the door apart wanted to see if it 'just pops off' from outside, or if th...

Re: Voltage at the coil?

I don't have points so not sure what the spade connector is but yes the coil should normally be 8v due to the resistors.

It only gets 12v (from the black and yellow starter lead) when cranking for a strong spark, any other time it's an 8v coil.

High pressure in-tank pump

I had issues with the suction line kinking and cutting off fuel so with inspiration from mye28 I replaced the in-tank lift pump with a high-pressure fuel pump. I bought this pump https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076LCYP77/ I also relocated the filter to the engine bay to be easier to replace. To d...

Re: Combo Relays?

I'm sure there's a way to make 2 or more separate relays do the job, but I think they do interact with each other. It's hard to say for sure as most diagrams just show them as a box with leads, and one, very fuzzy one I've got on the computer that does show what's inside is hard to read and missing...
