Sounds just like my problem... and I have replaced almost everything you have with the same results. I haven't gotten back to mine yet... but I have a wire coming off of the ignition coil that looks suspicious. Ended up buying a used Camry to replace the E12 that can't get going. I agree... I want m...

OK, last night I had a some time to look into the harness a little bit. I found a very poor repair job on the ignition coil. Under quite a few layers of electrical tape I found a spliced in wire that had lost all of its insulation and had corosion all over it. It was one of the main two contacts to ...

So I finally got back to the car tonight and tested a couple things out. 1st - I pulled the oil dip stick out while the car was running and it almost died out... had to put it right back in or the car would have stalled. 2nd - I then changed the oil in the car and discovered the smell of gas in the ...

AFM Slamming Shut

OK, Its me again... still trying to get the 77 530i on the street. Today while going back over all the items I have worked on I found that the car was not backfiring when I accelerated or backed off the throttle... it was the door on the AFM slamming shut. I also found oil on spark plugs #1 and #2.....

Frustrated - Update on Jiffy Lube Trouble (A bit long)

OK, so I am still trying to get this car on the road. I have replaced all injectors, injector seals, fuel lines, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, plugs, wires, rotor cap and AFM. And while I had the intake manifold off I replaced all air hoses as well as all the radiator/cooling hoses. Most of ...

Oil Change - Jiffy Lube Trouble

My son took my 1977 530i in to Jiffy Lube to get an oil change. (don't ask me) First of all they drained the oil and then found out they didn't have the oil filter they needed. Then they tried to put it all back together and could not stop an oil leak at the oil filter. Now my son drove the car for ...

Thanks!

Thanks, my son recently replaced the rear passenger tail light assembly and I am pretty sure that is where my problem is coming from.

I will let you know if I figure it out.

Anybody got flasher relays laying around?

Flasher Relay

I just replaced a bad flasher relay and within a few hours, the new relay is bad. Any clues as to where to look?

This is a US 1977 530i.

Thanks,

Steve

Any ideas on the lurching and bogged down feeling?
I have done the Throttle adjustment along with a timing adjustment and also replaced all the spark plugs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Throttle Switch Adjustment Problem

Last night I attempted the Throttle Body Adjustment procedure on my 1977 530i. As I was down to the end of the adjustment I discovered that I have the single throttle switch instead of the dual switch setup that the document had. I read through some other information in my Chilton book I found that ...
