You'll also need that toolkit wrench to replace the starter. Nothing else will fit.

There must still be a problem with lack of cores in the system.

Have you searched ebay, including europe (search worldwide)?

I always heard that, too, but have given mine to a decent transmission place that had an old manual/"foreign job" guy and, with the manual and parts diagrams I printed for them, had no problem at all.

Correct, calipers are the same, but with a slightly thicker spacer in the middle for the slightly thicker disc the 535's had (25mm vs 22mm). Certain 735's had the same 25mm thick disk, which helps when sourcing them (but they didn't use the same caliper so don't try that). Interestingly, Alpinas use...

I'd like to hear how this goes as well.

I have a 79 E24 that originally had a manual sunroof but was converted to electric at some point. Ideally I'd like it back to manual. Think I might be in for a mess on mine though, as on earlier E24's the sunroof electric motor was mounted in the trunk.

Yes, it was once somebody's baby. Definitely worth saving, and I'm glad you are.
(Ok, maybe a little disappointed that it isn't me, but I had my chances!)

I might +1 on the grounds theory. That car sat outside in the mud in PA for quite a few years before finding its way back into good hands.

Probably right. Track yourself down a tube of 5200 though and start experimenting. Amazing stuff.

Find 3M 5200. Comes in black. May have to go to a marine supply store.
Cures very slowly (48 hours) but is amazing. Incredible bond and pliability. I'll have to do mine with this at some point, too.

Already have all parts in hand. Been through the ETK's and factory manuals.

Have very discernable play in the pass rear, so I didn't leaving it be was an option.

Also, what makes you say they're sealed? ETK (and parts in hand) are open. Thought the sealed units came in on much later models.

Rear Wheel Bearing Replacement

About to tackle these for the first time, and just looking for warnings or words of encouragement.

Any advice/experience/tips to share?
Anecdotal bits (it's a bear, it's no big deal)?

Thanks,

I used the 25mm thick E23 rotors on my Alpina as a closer replacement for the 27mm Alpina discs. The Alpina calipers already had a spacer in them for the thicker discs, so I don't know about any caliper interchangeability. Putting the spacer into a stock set of calipers isn't a horrendous task, thou...

As, mentioned, the -657 part is superceded by the e28-m6 part, according to bavauto. The other correct part number is whzt I first had bavauto order and it's on indefinite backorder- no idea when/ if they'll get any. No one knows if e28 parts will work here? That seems to be what bavauto's listings ...

So I take it no one has dealt with difficulties getting the rear mounts recently?

Do the E28 parts actually fit here? That's what it seems I'm being told, but that would be the first E12-E28 parts crossover I've seen.
