1980 528i auto needs the fan clutch replaced. After research I have the one with the 32 mm nut at the rear,part #11521723918, that I assume tightens directly on to the water pump flange. My Haynes book only covers the older style fan clutch. My questions are:

Had trouble removing the bulk head cover but easy to remove motor and lube it. Works fine now. Could not separate linkage from wiper motor so lubed any moving part I could get to. Wipers work better but still slow.

Found it in the Haynes Manual. Doing the wiper motor at the same time.

Heater fan is starting to make a loud noise. If it can be lubed to make the noise go away, how difficult is it to get to? Can they be rebuilt? If so how difficult to remove. I have seen new(?) or used ones for $260-300. Thank you is advance for any advice.

I have an oil leak on the right side of the engine block. There is a spring loaded device that keeps the oil from draining from the top of the engine back into the crankcase when the engine is shut off. The leak appears to be coming from that area. I agree. The O2 should not kick in until the engine is warmed up. I will post any results.

Thank you for your advice. I bought the Bosch OEM sensor a year ago. The car passed Cal smog test with flying colors two days ago with the O2 sensor hooked up. I am not driving the car with it dis-connected. I will take out my multi-meter this weekend and run some more tests.
