look at a Craftsman bar wrench, it has FP and NM.
I could likely look at mine and give you my best guess as to NM=FP if you like

Re: '92 BMW 525 Station Wagon

I know, but a tennis friend of mine blew his engine because of either the plastic radiator top inlet/outlet, or, him trying to be too much of a Daddy, and listened to his daughter which isn't bad. So, while topping off the oil she said she was in a hurry, so, he didn't add the last qt. and forgot ...

I have an extra 140 MPH that I fixed last year. Problem is it belongs to GregGrip. I'll ship it to you if you get him to ok it. I'm done holding on to things that don't belong to me.... If you pay for a portion of the repair I did, it's yours. Call me.

You're probably low on oil. Early Bav pans were pretty bad at that, E12's not so bad, but somewhat vulnerable and E28s dont seem to do it at all. But check your oil, I bet it's down a quart or more.

what is was is gas in the oil. there is extreme blow by. we changed the oil and are waiting until ...

car started right up. GOOD
LOTS of gas in the oil. BAD
LOTS of blow by. BAD
fan clutch shot. not so bad.

I need to change oil and filter. gas in oil might account for oil pressure light.
once oil is changed and fan clutch is replaced back to fine ...

I have the "fix" on the AFM from Metric Mechanic.
I agree the starter might be sticking, or the wiring is not quite right. 22 degrees outside right now so I am not going to fuss over the wires at present.
thanks for all input, I have faith when it is all sorted out this will be one fine old ride...

Re: Bavaria Engine's

I found a 72 Bavaria at my local yard and was able to get the engine. It is in great shape for what the rest of the car looked like. I have it stored in my shed with all the ports sealed and the crankcase filled. Would the compression be the same as the 71? when did it change? Do you think it is ...

I have owned over 60 cars so far in my life. A majority of them were ones I had to fix up or restore. I have no dreamy idea of how easy restoration is...

ready to give up on 528i

I am working through a lot of issues to get things right with my 528i that has a '71 Bavaria block and an '81 2.8 head/fuel injection/ignition etc.

it was poorly assembled and I am having to go through it entirely and fix what the builder did wrong and I paid him for.

Today's problem is starter. I ...

oil pressure light comes on briefly on hard stop

I just got my e12 running. I have a leak on the oil pressure sensor so I am going to replace it anyway but here is my question:

I you are going at speed and hit the brakes suddenly the oil pressure light comes on briefly. Any thoughts on why it might be doing so?????

In the cooling FAQ I mentioned that I planed my t stat cover flat. I think that goes a long way to preventing leaks.

Of course a new one would have been flat as well, but I'm much too cheap for that. :)
