Where on the block would you attach a ground strap on?

Engine Ground - 1974 530i
My temp needle will behave like an ammeter when i have the turn signals on. It dances around and i also have alternator whine coming from the radio when on AM. The battery is grounded above the oil filter, there's another ground from battery to hood. I cannot find the engine ground, where is that su...

Re: Aux Fan
I have a new Rad. Its OEM Brass but new. Temp was around 20C outside. I bled using the bleeder screw on the T-Stat. I think i might have a bad ground issue. The temp needle rocks when i have my flasher on, much like an ammeter would. Aux fan might well be a NA thing. I might just wire a switch to tu...

Re: Aux Fan
The aux fan has two speeds, half and full. I don't know what non-AC cars have, but factory AC cars have two themo switches, one for 90C and one for 99C, with two sets of wires for each. The 90C triggers half speed, and the 99C triggers full speed. Also, when the AC compressor is on, it triggers the...

Re: Aux Fan
The car does not have A/C. But i was surprised to see it has an aux fan.
Unless the A/C was removed by PO. There are no A/C lines at all and has the old school vents which are fixed and airflow direction cannot be adjusted.

Aux Fan
Car is a 1975 530i. Did not come with factory A/C. I have replaced the temp switch on the rad for the aux fan. There are 2 connections on the thermo switch which are connected. Additionally, there are 2 wires with spade connectors, one of them going to the switch and the other one to the aux fan. Wh...

Re: 1975 BMW 530i - Clunking Noise from Front Right
Thanks for the instructions. I did that. I took it down a few inches and with all supported was able to get the sway bar mounted.
I also used the 17mm from the toolkit. I thought someone before me had bent it, but when i looked closer it looks like it was factory bent.
Thanks for all your help.

Re: 1975 BMW 530i - Clunking Noise from Front Right
So i figured out the issue. It was a loose brake caliper. When you trust a mechanic! The bolts were loose and clunking is gone. But what i have now is a sway bar from a M535i that will not go back on until the subframe is lowered. Can someone please share a step by step on how to do that. I have nev...

Re: Newer Fuel injectors
How newer are we talking about? What are you after? Are you running a turbo?
Or are you trying to save cost by re using what you have?
I replaced mine with a reman set of bosch injectors and an OEM fuel pressure regulator. Runs way better now.

Re: 1975 BMW 530i - Clunking Noise from Front Right
I thought of that. But to tighten it i need a 27mm hollow socket to hold the 11mm stud. I am thinking if i can use impact to tighten it, not usually recommended but worth a try maybe?

Re: 1975 BMW 530i - Clunking Noise from Front Right
This car has no rust on the frame whatsoever. Removed the entire stabilizer bar and checked all other bushings under the car. Still clunks!
I am going to replace the strut mounts. Let's see what that does.

Re: 1975 BMW 530i - Clunking Noise from Front Right
For the life of me i cannot figure this out. I put my body weight and move the car up and down on my US diving board bumpers and no clunk. Only happens when in motion. I do not see any bruises on the chassis where the sway bar mounting points are to justify its hitting the chassis. I think it happen...

According to this; if i remove the mount and end links it should come out and on install i just need to jack under the tires to install the links. No?
