Bench bleeding the MC?

Anyone done this? Seems like there would be 5 holes to route back to the reservoir?

Help! Brake bleeding issue?

Here's the back story: I replaced the rusty front brake lines on a 530i with lines that were in good condition from another 530i. Replaced from MC to front calipers. I also replaced the rusty brake lines at the rear from the T junction above the Diff to the rear calipers. I installed a known to be g...

Re: Automatic Transmissions?

In any event the Getrag 265 5 speed is the best gearbox for an E12. More fun to drive and better gas mileage. IMHO :)

Re: Brake fluid in the brake booster?

Hello to The Land Down Under from the Great White North :D Nice to see someone still repairing E12's and keeping them on the road. Thanks for the pics in the brake booster.I think I will get to that eventually but I have another brake issue I am trying to solve first. I decided to replace the brake ...

Brake fluid in the brake booster?

I pulled the MC and noticed the fluid at the bottom of the booster. I would assume that it has to come from the MC but the MC looks dry at the back and no sign of a leak there?
Also...has anyone done a "bench bleed " on the MC to assist in bleeding when the whole brake system is dry?

Re: Brake Pressure Switch Mystery???

On the 03/76 it was hidden underneath the brake booster. Maybe it applied the the rear stop lights? Possibly they changed that setup the following year? Have you removed the instrument cluster on your car? Not sure how many bolts I have to be removed to drop the column to gain access? I was able to ...

Brake Pressure Switch Mystery???

Hello Fivers I am replacing the good brake lines from a 03/76 530i Manual to a rusted brake line 09/76 530i Automatic. The Manual car has a brake pressure switch with the two brown wires.... but the Automatic car appears to not have the brake pressure in that location? Not to be confused with the "B...

Automatic Transmissions?

I'm repairing a new to me 77 530i. Is there an easy way to tell if the automatic is a ZF or Borg Warner...markings? Was one considered more trouble free than the other?

Re: difficult or PITA bolts etc - for amusement!

Ever try changing a brake line on a rear brake caliper? If the connector nut from the brake line where it goes into the caliper is rusty. When you try to remove it will snap the line because the rust has welded the nut to the line. Now you will have to remove the caliper and carefully try to drill o...

Re: Speedbleeders for one man brake bleeding

It's all good. I got thru to the original speedbleeder site and they were still $7.00 a piece. You need 8 for the 530i. SB7100

Speedbleeders for one man brake bleeding

Anybody using them for bleeding their BMW brakes? Where did you get them? The original speedbleeder site used to sell them for $7.00 each listed as SB7100 Now I think Dorman and Summit Racing have them under different stock numbers but are more expensive.

Rusted brake lines?

I'm attempting to replace an old brake line. After 50 some odd years the nut at the caliper rusts to the point where it's welded in place. Because of this I might have to replace most of the brake lines with new at some point but i was hoping to just do the one rear line from the rear junction to a ...
