You should never rev an automatic E12 over 2500rpm in neutral. You can toast your transmission

My brakes locked up as in these cars don't have ABS, and I stomped on the pedal. There was no malfunction. The brakes are amazing. Tires were the weak link. Greg- vim keeping the calipers, and not particularly interested in removing the bumpers to get at the shocks. Once it goes to the Boneyard, tho...

My carpet is orange. My car used to have a tan interior. Carpet never got changed. Glove box shouldn't be a problem. Not sure which trim piece near taillights you mean. I may have 1 seal still fuzzy, but it's faded to purple.

Alternately, if you have an e12 around that I could buy... preferably Brazil brown and 5 speed but I've learned I can fall for almost any car!

Totalled it!

After 5 years and 80k of faithful, thrilling service, I totalled my beloved Frau Blucher (1980 automatic) last Wednesday. My brakes locked on the 5 freeway during rush hour. I skidded right into a Jeep Wrangler. The radiator got pushed into the fan and distributor. She protected me well. I wore my s...

I got it out, removed tumbler, reinstalled and was able to drive the car home. New tumbler is $35.

Straightforward. No tricks. Use common sense.

Sounds like a combo relay. Have you verified that fuel rail is pressurized while the starter is turning? Remove the top half of the airbox along with the elbow. With the key in the "run" position, push the flap on the AFM in a little bit. You should immediately hear the fuel pump running. ...

key won't turn!

My 528i is my daily driver for the past 5 years, no issues to speak of. Today, it got stranded at a shopping center. The key won't turn the ignition lock. I've tried pulling on the wheel in both directions, jiggling it... nothing is helping. Any idea how to get the ignition lock out of the column? I...

I'm thinking the afm and ecu. Before I knew much about my car,
I swapped out the afm with one from a 733I. Similar symptoms.
Are your afm and ecu correctly matched?

AC Charging Issue

Ive just replaced all 3 rubber high pressure ac lines as well as installing a new receiver drier and belt. I have run a vacuum on the system, and it holds 30 lbs vacuum. When i try to fill the system with refrigerant (r134a), it wont accept refrigerant and the sight glass remains empty. Adding just ...

Maybe the check valve in the fuel pump is my culprit. I replaced my fuel pump about a year ago with one salvaged from an e28, but the problem persists.

The Fuel Injector Seals go between the intake manifold and the injectors themselves. I replaced them about 18 months ago when I did a valve job. Injector seals might cause slow starting by allowing outside air into the manifold and changing fuel/air ratio, but my problem is low pressure within the f...
