I'm rehashing an old thread.

The CTS, is it not a one-pin sensor atop the thermostat housing?

I had my radiator re-cored, but they didn't get the dimensions 100% correct when they reassembled it. Thus, I'm not able to fit the fan shroud without some modification. Is it really that vital, or will I be fine without it?

Trust what this man says. I had this exact issue, used his method of repair, and it solved it. I just went to the nearest Autozone, picked up a 15 inch grounding strap and used that from the strut tower to the valve cover.

Unlikely. It sat for a month while I tracked down the overheating issue, and the fuel gauge stayed at the full mark the entire time.

Now that I've mostly solved the hot-running engine issue, another one has crept up. It's likely been this way for a while, but I could never drive it long enough to notice.

From a full tank of gas, I'm only getting ~150 miles. To help y'all better diagnose, the head was replaced about ~600 miles ...

How stable is the gauge? If you see any movement when you use turn signals, heater blower, lights etc it's got a bad ground. Which will cause a higher gauge reading.

The temp gauge does move around quite a bit when I turn on other electrical items. I figured it was a bad ground, but I don't even ...

No leaks, new water pump.

The radiator was just re-cored and it was tested before I took it back from the shop.

Fan clutch is brand new. It doesn't really overheat at idle, only when driving.
