gas gauge grounded?

Well, I am back to work on the m535. Decided to keep it for now. I noticed that the gas gauge is all the was over to full....I know it does not have more than maybe 4 gallons. I think I may have done something when I put the km speedometer in.
Is there any information on how to fix this problem here ...

thanks for the reply

Yes, I tried checking everything. I even wrote down a picture of where the wires go. I found that I had fried the flasher relay. Once we got the relay replaced everything worked. My fuel gauge is still reading high, but that could be do to needing a good cleaning.
thanks,

emergency flashers not working at all

So I replaced the emergency flasher, but it is not working. Power is going to the clock and radio, but no flasher.
I assume there is a flasher relay, and that would be a problem. I do not know what that would have to do with the fuel gauge, but it would cause problems for the turn signals.

cluster is not working

I have a problem with the m535 cluster. I took it out and put in a mechanical euro speedometer and when I went to try it out the turn signals do not work, the gas gauge is pegged at full...no it is not full. And the emergency flashers do not work.
I checked the fuses, look good they are new ...

I was hoping for a different answer

I have been reading about these clusters, and have a feeling you are correct.
Did not want to hear that:). Wonder what these wires go to????
Sure is funny they are the exact same color.

Electric speedometer? Need the experts on this one:)

I received a cluster yesterday and the speedometer is electric. Well my m535 has a cable driven speedometer, as most of you know...it is an e12.
But here is the mystery. Behind my cluster I found a black box with a bunch of wires coming out including two that were cut....one is black and one is ...

Check the pump

Might want to check to see if the pump is making noise. You have air in the line. Someone here might be able to tell you how to get it out, assuming you did not mess up the pump.

Just an idea

Unless you replaced your battery, it is most likely dead for good. Sometimes when you kill a battery they will not recharge to normal, and then maybe driving slowly in town, may have just made the little charge in the battery go away.
Have the battery 'load' checked to see if it is any good.

Just waiting

I am just waiting for people to get back to me.....thought I had two leads, but who knows now:).
Yes, the cover is off, and I have read the info. on how to take out the cluster.
Seems about the same as the e30, ore28 ones I have taken out.

thanks Chris

I am hoping to talk to my neighbor and see if he can weld this together while I have the car apart. I think if I get some type of I hook, it will be good for now. Maybe down the road I will find a real one. Might even ask him to do the rear hook too. If you want to send the pictures to my gmail ...

I have been looking it over...

I think it is some type of alarm. Might try the 12v and see if it moves:).
At this point I don't see any reason to put it back in. I will find out where the power line goes. It enters near the glove box. Hope it makes lots of noise when I turn it on:).
