Re: Radiator replacement

Thanks for the replies guys; I decided to have a reputable, local radiator shop in business for over 50 yrs. take a look at my African E12 replacement in service for over 20 yrs. He found a tiny leak in the left core and suggested either repairing or looking somewhere for someone to make cores to sp...

Re: Center tie rod 32211108081

Thanks Mike,

I managed to snare the only E12 center link from RockAuto that was listed. Centric, I think.

Thanks again!

Center tie rod 32211108081

Long time no post, hi everyone.

I'm seeing this part everywhere as NLA.
What are we doing to replace this? Mine has a looseness at the pittman arm yet is only 5 yrs. old.

Would an E24 part be workable?

Thanks all.

So, what are we using now that the 42mm tips are NLA? :(

Re: Differential or pinion and ring gear

Thanks, guys, I'm going let my indie BMW tech replace the bearings..stories seem to point there first so I should try..he also wants to do the output bearings as well at 300k..and do pinion preload with a new crush gasket ..he used to work at the dealer, owns his own place. At least I'll find out wh...

Differential or pinion and ring gear

Hi all, Long time no post.. A slow input shaft seal leak has manifested itself into a whining 25-30 mph noise under light acceleration or maintaining speed. Seal has been replaced and low hypoid fluid changed with an additive MGC 325 from BG but the whining continues, higher in pitch than bea...

Try oiling it first. The zoom spout oiler works well to get it close to the right spots. Correct. I acquired another blower housing assembly a long time ago just to see how it's fabricated. There are two small holes in the blower cage where the other side butts close to the fan motor mount where th...

Point is, you don't know if it's ever been overfilled and drowned by a PO. As Mike has pointed out, what toasts these emissions control devices from the late '70s is 'topping off' with gas that sends raw liquid fuel to the canister, drowning the charcoal. The charcoal is there to absorb and hold onl...

More important to understand is the fact that E12s with L-Jetronic injection including closed-loop Lambda systems, '79-'81 will use the same connection design. I can post pics of pin outs from wiring diagrams if necessary but it's a PIA to get them on the 'net. On a humorous note I could say 'smurki...

Just pull the HT coil wire to the dizzy. Crank a few times to move some oil, not more than 20 secs. or so each time, with a rest for the starter motor in between.

If the oil is over a year old, I would fire it up, take your victory spin, and plan to change the oil soon.

I did exactly what you want to do with a 140 mph speedo replacing the American 80 mph. It's been a looong time ago so I don't remember exactly how, but what Mike states sounds right. I seem to feebly remember only having to pull something slightly out (the shaft?, as Mike says) to allow rotation of ...

More likely, removing motor assembly (not terribly difficult but tricky to get in/out of the door), then partial disassembly of motor casing to expose the winding to be able to reorient the winding in its normal travel. What usually happens (to me) is this. The regulator with the motor assembly has ...

Did you know the front calipers have 2 bleed screws? They are on top. Agreed on any power bleeder device. Correction on the front caliper bleed nipples. There are three and must be bled in this sequence: 1) uppermost (outer), 2) middle (inner), 3) lowest (outer). An over engineered late '70s way of...
