I have also been thinking about the AFM air mixture screw. Right now it is adjusted to the bottom. Does that mean that there is no air bypass? I asked this question recently. The answer is that the more you back that screw out, the more bypass air allowed, and hence the leaner the idle. So it sound...

If you go the L-Jetronic seminar, slide 12, I am turning the screw located at '5'. This is said to be the "Idle mixture adjusting screw". http://www.firstfives.org//faq/ljet/jetronic.pdf Is this not the correct screw? It is indeed a slotted screw, but it is on the windshield side. Interest...

Idle Mixture Screw - Which Direction to Lean at Idle

I want to lean out my mixture at idle - it is obviously rich. I know the Idle Mixture Screw will only make a small change. Right now the screw is all the way tight. Is that the rich setting, or the lean setting?

Thanks! Mike

Thanks for the input! I am happy to hear one data point on this. I would like to hear others if anyone else has experience with this. I haven't decided yet to send the injectors our or not. Thanks! Mike

Cleaning and flow testing fuel injectors

My 528i runs with a fair amount of hesitation at part throttle. It smells rich, so I am fairly confident it is not a case of lean surge. I am thinking about getting the injectors cleaned and flow tested before doing any other fuel injection work. I may go megasquirt, which I have done on my 1991 VW,...

How to open air flow meter?

There are two Phillips head screws that would appear to be all that holds the waffle lid on, but when I remove them, it is still on there securely. Maybe it has been sealed with silicon? Anyways, should it come off with the two screws removed, or are there some hidden screws?

Thanks! Mike

Adjustable fuel pressure regulator

I am looking to have some adjustability in my L-Jetronic to compensate for aging components. So I am thinking about an adjustable FPR. Anyone do this already? Any suggested FPRs? I may pick this one up: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bch-0 ... /overview/

Well, I went to the dark side and siliconed it up. It doesn't look bad actually, and it completely fixed the leaks. Call it preservation in the hopes of later restoration. If I hadn't done it, the floors would be gone in a few years. Thanks for following-up.

One other possibility is you sucked up a lot of debris from the bottom of the tank and it is plugging your fuel filter. I haven't been around E12s to know if this can happen in these cars, but it can in others.

Try this. Go to the hardware store and find a bolt with the same thread pitch, but longer. Take a pair of Vise Grips, and pull the two halves together some. Use the longer bolt to get the two halves to the point where you can get one original bolt threaded. Then back out the longer bolt and stick i...

Compressing anti-roll bar bushings

With a little effort I have my anti-roll bar out in the front and I am replacing the bushings. The new bushings are each a bit taller than the old ones I took out, obviously because they are not worn and compressed like the old ones. However, when stacking them up on the tall bolt, the end of the bo...

Well, my sunroof appears to be the main culprit. I used some stiff line and cleared the front drain holes. Now I see water coming out of the rocker panels from 2 or 3 little holes on each side. I couldn't get to drains in the back. My sunroof seal and sunroof adjustment are so poor that it doesn't a...
