Do you guys have any opinions on the Moog brand control arms vs the genuine BMW ones? The Moog brand is alot cheaper and I don't see how they could be of any less quality except possibly the bushings they use.

Hey Danval,

I too have been researching a coil over kit for my E12. I spent a lot of time pondering whether I should go ground control or IE. I have been talking to Jeff at IE and he has given me a quote for a kit. He listed the front as $320 and the rear at $290, this includes adjustable height ...

Wondering if anyone has some good information on brakes. For a goal I am looking to greatly improve the brakes but I will not be track driving very often or at all.

I have looked at the Willwood kit at IE for our E12s but together it would be around $2000 for both front and rear. From what I've ...

Thanks Bizz,

Would anyone be able to share their costs for re-valving their Billies? I might just go with ground control. It's an extra couple hundred bucks but it would be a lot easier.

Also if I were to run a shorter strut with a stock strut housing is the travel of the strut affected?

Cheers

Thanks Kohler,

I guess the question is at what spring rate would you have to revolve. I personally am going for a semi-stiff street setup, maybe 450 front and 350 rear. Does anyone know how much Billstein charges for re-valving?

If my total coil over kit is above $1200 I may just go with ground ...

Hey there, I'm planning on running coil overs on my 530i. I've talked to IE and they say it is not necessary to shorten the strut housings for around 1.5" drop. Is this true? If I were just to weld on a new perch and run seven inch springs what shocks would you guys recommend?

Also what are your ...

I don't mean to dismay your consideration here but I just heard back from IE.

Here is the message.

We are just finishing a more to a larger building so it would be several days before I could put together a list of parts.

The adjustable height coil overs for the E12 are basically the same as the ...

Just sent Jeff at IE a message to put together a quote. Hoping he can help with spring rates and lengths. I will see if he supplies re-valved bill stein sports in the kit. I also mentioned that we might be able to get a group together to do a buy. So we will see how that goes down :D

What do you ...

I see, so would I have to re-valve a set of billstein sports for coil overs? I am trying to get IE to put a quote together for me so I will see what they have to say as far as spring rates.

I was also going to do the rear subframe bushings. I think they are available at IE.

For me turboing will ...

Thanks Jody,

Yeah I've heard good things about both Konis and Billies. I know the ground controll coil over kits used re-valved konis. What does re-valving mean?

Sorry I didn't include this but this is going to be a project car and in the end it will hopefully have a turbo m30b35. So brakes I ...

Suspension and Brake rebuild

Recently I had been planning an engine swap for my 530i and was almost ready to pull the trigger. However in the time it took me to convince my wife of the project the perfect m30b35 went off kijiji and left me back at the drawing board. I knew that suspension and brakes would have to come and now ...

I see, so therefore could I just use a complete short shift kit from an e24 633csi? I'd assume that the lever is pretty much the same and I think all of the connections would be 10mm so it would be easy to match.

Hey, so I emailed autosolutions about using their 5 speed short shift kit and they indicated that the selector rod for their kit (designed for the 4 speed) is too long in application with the getrag 265 linkage. Blaise, what selector rod did you use to build your linkage?

Again, if it's a factor ...
