Re: Antenna adapter

You can find adapters for the DIN antenna jack online or at Crutchfield. I installed a Blaupunkt Bavaria C from the early 90's in my E12, which is a DIN chassis cassette deck. The DIN chassis is deeper, so I had to use a 90-degree antenna adapter and a faceplate spacer because there was insufficient...

My US-spec car has two breakers mounted on the knee panel for the fog lights.
Correction - the breakers on the knee panel are for the electric windows.

Re: Exhaust: 633CSi v 528i

I just read that WA was eliminating tailpipe emissions testing in 2020, so if you wait a year you can delete the cat. This allows for a freer flowing muffler and larger resonator (which I found necessary to moderate the M30 drone).

Re: It's Alive! It's Alive! The no fuel issue......

You might be surprised. A good spray contact cleaner and some Q-tips combined with patience might clean out the funk and corrosion, and the solder repair can be easily and cheaply done at an electronic repair shop if you don’t want to attempt it. If you have several I would be tempted to clean and t...

Re: Vapor Blasting

All six tubes plus the VC for $150.

Yes, I can't find any flaws except one small stain where oil had leaked through one of the intake runners from the inside. These parts look better than new. Turnaround was under a week.

Re: Starts fine runs for 12 seconds then stalls out?

Karl - Lock has been combatting a cut-out problem, so check that recent thread on this board. Did you verify the AFM itself is working correctly? Lock posted some nice pictures on his thread and there is a Technical FAQ as well.

Gents: Brought a replacement valve cover (hat tip PatinaBeforePolish) and six 320is valve runners to New England Blastworx in Hinsdale NH for vapor blasting. https://i.ibb.co/HG5g4Tn/IMG-8757.jpg https://i.ibb.co/zh5pTPM/IMG-8809.jpg https://i.ibb.co/ZBVkRX5/IMG-8811.jpg 10 micron glass beads and wa...

Re: Distributor "Dwell" Spec.

Maximilian is still around. https://www.bmwmobiletradition-online.com/store/home.php Honestly, there are a ton of options and I usually obsessively search for the cheapest. Rock Auto is reliably inexpensive, and ECS Tuning and Pelican (same company I think) are good. If Summit has the parts, they're...

Re: Hooking up Battery wrong.

Did you turn the key with the battery poles reversed? Without doing so, the ignition circuit remains open so polarity wouldn't matter. Even if closed, I don't think a reversed polarity would permanently damage the coil, points or condenser. I believe that only electronics with diodes are likely to b...

Re: I screwed up...forgot I had drained the coolant!

Patina may be right and there could be water in your gas, especially after a couple of years - add some HEET or other gas treatment for a few tanks to disperse any water, refilling alone probably won't do it. Your first start was using the gas in the lines, so I wouldn't automatically connect the ru...

Re: 77, 78 side mirror glass

Interesting. I bought a replacement door shell with the right P/n for an 81 from Schmiedmann and presumed it would be a perfect copy. It probably is, but I’ll keep this in mind when it comes time to make the swap.

Re: Stall/cutout under load

Maybe try disconnecting the idle switch on the throttle if you haven't already. If the switch is closed at high RPM the ECU would think you're in coast-down and cut the fuel. Peter's L-Jet FAQ says this feature was added in 79.
