Re: 1978 530i A/C Oil charge

So, i read everything from adding refrigerant at the drier, which really seems problematic. I seen guys just suck it up right from the can to the low side? I didnt think ,however + about the system being loaded with refrigerant, and pulling the veritable plug, good call on that. It just stated that t...

Re: 1978 530i A/C Oil charge

thanks. In the manual and on my compressor the hole is located on the bottom of my compressor. there is hex piece that comes out the back. Is that the correct place to inject the oil? ( and then watch to see the oil come from that hole?) I have mostly got the recharge done, so the system is closed. ...

1978 530i A/C Oil charge

Not sure how to refill compressor with oil. it says in the manual to remove oil inspection bolt and add oil in crankcase till overflows out of said oil inspection orifice. However it does not point which place to introduce the oil? there are two valves corresponding to the two hoses into the compres...

Antenna adapter

Finally getting around to installing my Continental radio in my 78 530i. Got it all in, EXCEPT, my radio antenna plug is too large to plug into my new head unit. I have looked up antenna adapters but none specifically list the e12 models as acceptable. Has anyone run into this issue? How did you ove...

Re: Pertronix Ignition

Ive been running a new Pertronix ignition for a month or two now. I did not get a big difference in performance, im still getting to know the car. but not having to wonder/worry about if the ignition (points and condenser are worn) is worth it. It feels a bit easier running. the idle seems a bit ste...

Re: Leather care

Ive had pretty good results with Mink oil. Ive used %100 golden mink oil. Get the best you can afford. I agree a little heat helps, even if it is just a nice vigorous rub (to generate heat) to get the oil to penetrate well. You know how the story goes; wax on - wax off.
