It will bolt up to the engine just fine, however I'm not sure what driveshaft you will need. One from an 86-88 E28 5 speed will probably work, but I'm not at all sure. It's a Getrag G260/6, a decent transmission, but without provisions for either flywheel sensors for E28 era Motronic, or any sort of...

You've already got what you need. The auto driveshaft will work with a G265 5 speed. It's off just a touch, an eighth of an inch or so, but close enough. I've swapped 3HP22 and G265 driveshafts back and forth 3 or 4 times now, including on my current E12. Another FYI, the speedo drive bits out of a ...

Dan, wow, it has been a while since you posted, good to see you. The only thoughts I have are possibly a seized water pump or alternator. I had a water pump seize on another brand many years ago and it smoked the fan belt in nothing short. It didn't smell like wood, but it was definitely smoked and ...

I have thought about it and accumulated some 6 gauge welding cable but unless you track your car (which I don't) is it really worth it ? The rear strut brace/battery box installs look cool etc. but I would think it will be a bitch to get the battery in and out and reach for jumper cables if needed....

Damn, you made me work on this one! But your friends suggestion sounds about right, maybe you could go up one size, but it seems close. However I'm wondering, you mentioned going a couple of months without starting it, and I think that might be more the problem than the wiring. Do you actually disco...

While at Pick-a-Part today, I found a pair of Recaros, or at least BMW sport seats in an '86 325e for $38 apiece. Of course in bad shape. Would they fit my '81 seat rails so I can install them? I think Pierre said that's all I have to do, but would that include this year? No they won't, the rails a...

Re: Dumping thermal reactor, which manifolds to use?

I've got a 77 630csi, that is running an 81 M30B32, with the stock manifold for that engine. I have perfect original exhaust for the 77, except for the reactors. I want to dump the 81 setup, and convery back to the 77 setup, including downpipes. I "should" be able to use basically any man...

Is the seller wrong then and these are not E12? That's what I'm thinking. I've been playing with E12's since the early 90's and I've never seen big/little headlights. Check RealOEM, or some of the car of the month pics, a lot of those are euros, but I don't think you'll find any. And even if they a...

I kind of did a mock up, and it didn't seem close or easy. On the other hand, I've also got an E24 euro front air dam sitting in the garage, a Zender IIRC, and it does look doable with a minimum of hassles. I wouldn't go so far as to say it couldn't be done, but not easily.

I don't think they are for an E12. To the best of my knowledge, and doing some peeking on RealOEM, all E12's came with the same size high and low beam lamps, not the big/little like euro E28's came with. I don't know what they do fit, but I don't think it's an E12.

Re: 733 tranny

Hi again, Mike. Can I use the clutch master cylinder & mounting stuff? What about the foot pedal box, or whatever it's called? And the pedals? I know I'm puttin' you to work; thank you, very much, Mike. Greg You could use the slave that's mounted on the tranny, and don't forget the clutch and f...

How's your oil consumption? Even with high miles rings aren't normally a problem, but valve guide seals are. If you're using oil, my money is on the seals.

The bad news is, no, the E23 driveshaft is longer, and the diff is completely different and not interchangable. The good news is the tranny is right and you can use your auto D/S with a 5 speed, I've done it 3 times now and they're off by a touch, but close enough. You will still need a crossmember,...

It's possible, I've got one on my E12, but it's not sorted out yet. Aside from having to fabricate hangers in the back, E28 downpipes hit the idler arm. Less now that I've put a few miles on it, but still some. It can definitely be done, but it's not a straight bolt up. And I doubt you would get a s...
