High pressure in-tank pump
I had issues with the suction line kinking and cutting off fuel so with inspiration from mye28 I replaced the in-tank lift pump with a high-pressure fuel pump. I bought this pump https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076LCYP77/ I also relocated the filter to the engine bay to be easier to replace. To d...

Re: Combo Relays?
I'm sure there's a way to make 2 or more separate relays do the job, but I think they do interact with each other. It's hard to say for sure as most diagrams just show them as a box with leads, and one, very fuzzy one I've got on the computer that does show what's inside is hard to read and missing...

Re: Bypassing the combo relay????
I still have the combo relay I removed when I switched to Motronic EFI. If you want it and can cover the cost of shipping whatever that is, PM your address, I'll send my paypal address and I'll mail it to you. It's the newer black plastic type and it worked when I took it out of the car. I was meani...

Re: Trying to get an 85 735 5-speed onto an 80 M30 engine
I would say find an e28 553i or e23 735i single mass flywheel for your M30, then you can use all e28 clutch, clutch slave and all that gear. Others on here might know for sure, but I don't think the e12 clutch fits on an e28, better to use a flywheel that goes with the gearbox. That will make all th...

Re: Electronic speedo
So with the factory Getrag 265/6 the speedo output will work in this arrangement? Awesome project, Lock. Thanks! I didn't get any pics of the cluster 'build', but when I take it out to fix some things like the trip meter I'll take some. Re your question, was that for me or Patina? Looks like those ...

Re: Blade fuse upgrade
Thanks! One of the other issues I had with the bullet fuses - not sure if others find this - is the new ones are plastic not ceramic, and also are so poorly made the wire tends to just fall off. So it feels like they're even less accurate than the old ceramic ones. Something I forgot to mention, the...

Re: Electronic speedo
A couple of reasons, my odometer was always broken, but the auto was dying when I bought the car so I soon swapped in an e34 5-speed which doesn't have a speedo output. So I've essentially never had a speedo - always used a phone with GPS speedo, those are frustrating because they can take a while t...

Electronic speedo
Using parts from an ebay broken e12 cluster, I put an e30 speedo into my cluster for a factory look, inspiration from here https://www.bmw2002faq.com/forums/topic/244262-electronic-speedo-conversion/ https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52705748776_a554cd0641_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535...

Blade fuse upgrade
Wanted to share that I upgraded my fuse box to blade fuses after looking for a solution to overheating fuses. https://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=156216 You probably need electrical experience before attempting this. I took plenty of photos. It was very zen spending an afternoon reconnecting each ...

Re: 76 530i motor&5spd into a 74 Bavaria?
First off, great new avatar pic of your E12 in the snow. Interesting about the drive shaft halves. Everything I read about separating the halves stressed the importance of marking the orientation to preserve balance. I was pretty paranoid about that. Here you've Frankensteined two halves and preser...

Re: 76 530i motor&5spd into a 74 Bavaria?
For what it's worth you can mix and match Dorman driveshafts halves. When I took out my 3HP22 auto and put in the e34 260/6 manual transmission the replacement Dorman driveshaft I got was too short by about an inch or two on the rear half, there wasn't enough spline engagement, so I talked to Dorman...

Re: Giubo
Congrats on the short shifter - it really does change the car, doesn't it. I put in a Z3 1.9 shifter in and it feels like you go from a tractor to a Miata transmission. Does your shifter have a bend in it near the pivot? Wondering if you can bend the whole thing back a little if it's steel and not a...

Re: AC ideas and suggestions
Man I always forget about that feature, and when I want AC I turn it to COLD, and direct the vents away. It's habit because I'm used to literally every other car I've been in with an AC button for either on or off, which translates to either freezing, or sticky with condensation smell. To address th...

Re: Floor Jack Pad Recommendation
Thanks for the info, good to know! If they can be easily modified that would be useful, because e12s are technically not supposed to be raised in the back from the subframe or the diff so these would be a good solution.
