Just did some internet searching an looks like this part is NLA from BMW. I've had the best luck sourcing NLA parts by setting up a perpetual search on eBay that notifies me if the part is listed for sale.

Re: Steering and Suspension Update
What B8 part number did you buy for the front? It's been a couple of years since I searched so I can't remember the part #, but the B8s I currently have on the front are NLA and I could not find a replacement listed for the E12 chassis.

Touring = B4 (OEM replacement)
HD = B6 (firmer ride for standard height springs)
Sport = B8 (performance shocks for lowering springs)

Re: Replacement A/C Compressor
Has anyone used the L.C. Wylie bracket to mount a Sanden on an E12? I know it's been used on E9s and also later M30 cars, but I asked Layne about E12 fitment and he was not sure.

Re: Windshields
My E12 came with a replacement windshield from Walloth & Nesch. I'm waiting to install it until I get around to the rust repair. Not sure why the PO sourced it from across the pond instead of in the USA.

Re: Verify color of FRONT FOG LAMP switch
Particularly when the darn button unscrews! BMW refuses to ship this part to the US. They claim that it was not a stock part for US cars so they wont ship it here, even though they shipped plenty of them to the dealer who installed them when their customers wanted fog lights. It blows me away. I es...

Re: ballast resistor with conventional ignition
Went through the same thing when I "upgraded" the starter on my 77 530i last year. Hooked everything back up exactly the same and promptly melted a wire. Did a bunch or research, repaired the melted wire, disconnected the red/black wire and everything's been fine since.

Red Line in gearbox and differential?
It's time to service the gearbox and diff on my E12. I've always had good luck with Red Line products in my E30s. Any reason not to use their MTL and correct viscosity gear oil in the E12?

Re: Front Seat Cushion
That's a bummer. Was planning to replace mine.PatinaBeforePolish wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 7:46 pm I contacted World Upholstery and they have no e12 seat cushions. Zero. Other than possible NOS stashes floating to the surface, the only option seems to be finding a shop willing to cut and glue foam.

Front Seat Cushion
Our own PatinaBeforePolish posted in the current E12 B.A.T. auction discussion that front seat bottom cushions are NLA from BMW. World Upholstery has them listed on their web site. Has anyone purchased a cushion from them?

Re: Electrical Problem
I finally had time to repair the wiring harness, so thought I'd close the loop on this thread. One other loose end - my car definitely doesn't have a ballast resistor, so I guess I have the blue coil with the internal resistance. In my research, I read on a forum somewhere (maybe 2002faq or mye28) t...

Re: Electrical Problem
Thanks Dale. I'll check again. Must be hidden well. Just found a discussion of ballast resistors on 2002faq, with this: "The Blue coil has an internal resistor, do not use an external resistor with this coil." I wonder if that applies to my car. It has a blue coil. Also found this: "M...
