Re: Whelp...it looks like I may have a spun bearing!

Patina, I'll keep you in mind. However, I had already purchased a reman M30 head and I would really like to keep the original block with Eleanor...if possible that is. If the hardware is too far gone, then I'll reach out to you. I have a 2002 330i I need to fix (EWS-DME sync issue) as it is currentl...

Re: Block rodents from your fresh air intake

Perhaps brass or stainless soaked with WD-40?

Whelp...it looks like I may have a spun bearing!

Hey everyone. So, what had happened was a couple days ago, I was dialing in the spark timing with a timing light. I had just got the timing dialed in when the engine began stalling (from a steady 1700 RPM) and then died. I turned the engine back over again and heard the dreaded rattling marbles soun...

Re: Always check your oil banjo bolts!

Patina,

It is something I'm considering. I just bought another M30 head that comes with the banjo bolts...but I'll likely purchase the new bolts come rebuild time. This is only intended as a temporary fix until the snow starts falling.

Always check your oil banjo bolts!

This is the first time I've taken the valve cover off since I purchased "Eleanor", and sure enough, the rear banjo bolt was FINGER loose! http://keehncomputer.com/Photos/20191025_140131 (the bolt to the center-left holding the oil rail to the head) http://keehncomputer.com/Photos/20191025_...

Re: Oil Pump piston and compression spring

Joe, This looks to be a "technical update" (TU) to the oil pump design. Clearly, your engine must work fine, so I wonder if the exploded diagram simply shows the pre/post TU by design? It's a head-scratcher to me. Regardless, I'll be doing a complete top and bottom rebuild of my 76 M30B30 ...

Re: Oil Pump piston and compression spring

I have not worked on this system, but item 22 looks VERY important. I've shared what the blue service manual has on the oil pump. Note that item 22 is present. http://keehncomputer.com/Photos/20191008_121844.jpeg http://keehncomputer.com/Photos/20191008_121907.jpeg http://keehncomputer.com/Photos/20...

Re: CFM of radiator fan?

Belt-driven fans on any engine always suck away horsepower. For example, my diesel class A RV fan robs 20 HP alone! As for the sensor, I plan to use the existing equipment, but I'll have to get the high/low resistance readings of the sensor during normal operating temperatures and either get a temp-...

CFM of radiator fan?

Hello everyone,

My first tech question in over a decade: Does anyone know the CFM rating of the radiator fan?

I'm asking because I'm thinking of deleting the pulley fan in favor of an electric version, in addition with an E28 radiator.

Thanks!

Mike
