Re: ANOTHER injector leaking

Oh good. Learning I can anticipate further vintage parts NLA, now junk hoses. Whenever it was I had a local parts finisher zinc plate collected hardware and a few larger pieces. Fuel rail. I copied the assembly from the other: The fuel lines use little cups on each end to compress the line around th...

Electronic Control Unit (ECU) harness compatibility

Just curious before learn by doing. I have harness's and ECU's, collected from '79-'81 5, 6ers. The one in question has broken injector connectors. Easier to swap in a spare harness than replace the connectors. What are the predictions the (necessary) pins will connect between the ECU and spare harn...

Excellent parts source

From twenty years BluntTech.com. (sales@blunttech.com)

Visiting the site Steve has grown the business while his experience with E12, E24's is great for sources of hard to find parts. I contacted him for the wiper pieces, on the way, good prices, free shipping.

Re: '81 windscreen wipers

Did you order the damper ring(s) from a BMW factory parts source or fool around matching the pieces at local auto parts / hardware stores ?

Without specifics it seems like the pieces are not that custom,...

Re: Windscreen washer tubing

Hey, thank you race fans. It is so much faster and easier typing the question and reading the answers than clicking and searching.

Although with the engine all apart I don't know why I need the wiper squirters working.

'81 windscreen wipers

Thinking the loose wipers only needed the big hex nuts tightened,... ha ha, pretty funny.

Lets check the parts view to see the stack of spacers, rubbers, grabbers, pivots, clips and dingleberries,... the engineers came up with to improve the sluggo '79 set up,... that hasn't come loose.

Windscreen washer tubing

A source for the washer clear tubing with the white nylon stretch thread ? The factory parts drawing is not obvious with a number, the stuff seems possibly generic. Replacement step 1. ask club members for the easy solution.

Re: Window regulator question help

With the panel off the assignment is patient cleaning, lubricating and adjusting. Continue that process, testing with the switch, until the window works as factory new. Clean out the bottom of the door, drain holes, for any rust, crud. Place a towel there to lessen the rust, dripping, penetrating oi...

Re: Driver's floor pan rust and carpet dyeing

Open the sunroof ( If fitted ) to see the drain holes in the front corners. Use a coat hanger or wire to check the steel tubes are clean. Raise the car, remove the wheels and inner fender plates to see the black rubber tubes that extend from the upper steel tubes to holes out the bottom of the body....

Re: Trunk lid stuck closed.

Should circumstances require replacing, adjusting the trunk latch, put a friend in the trunk with a suitable light and 10 mm wrench, box or socket.

The alternative invites massive ridiculous gyrations to open it.

Re: Trunk lid stuck closed.

Please do not translate this entry as argumentative. The lock, latch is in my 633, a slightly different design than E12, enough to negate your solution from working. Frustrating, as you'd have to see it to believe it. Swinging for the fences, has anyone attempted drilling out the lock cylinder ? The...

Re: Seatbelt Rehab

My solution to cover the bare chrome and protect the nylon webbing : Cut a piece of leather matching the belt color. Fit and glue it through the slot to replace the broken plastic cover.

It works good and is not all that visible ugly.

Re: HELP Sliding Roof

Both my '79 and '81 have slide / tilt roofs. The way to access the inside is the same. Open the roof six inches, enough to get your fingers over the white vinyl interior cover, and pull it down smartly. There are four plastic pegs in the cover that push into the metal frame. Once the cover is out of...

Re: Trunk lid stuck closed.

Thank you, as usual, for your prompt suggestions. I have a spare trunk assembly to see and understand the concept and workings. The '79 635 lid even has a hole drilled in it, dead center, finger diameter. So far I am not seeing any avenue straight down to use a screwdriver, any tool to work the latc...
