That sounds like an annoying situation. I've always had cars that just won't idle properly and I know it sucks. I assume you've tried pulling the spark plug leads one at a time while idling to narrow down which cylinder is missing? And looked at the plugs for any differences? How about switching out...

OK thx ,that does sound encouraging, and it makes sense as the fender widens out going forward. I did use a floor jack so the weight etc wasn't a problem, just getting it out from between the fender and spare tire well. Thx for the input.

Thx for the response, thats pretty much what I thought. Its one of those things that seems really hard if not impossible until it works and you wonder what took so long. I was just so surprised how much harder than the e24 it was to slide out. Like you say, I has to go back in, so it will. Cheers

1977 e12 gas tank re/re

I recently removed the rusty old tank from the 77 530i and was surprised at how much trouble I had dropping it. After moving the exhaust out of they way and undoing the the three bolts I figured it would just slowing drop out like the the e24 tanks I've removed in the past. This tank seemed like it ...

I actually ordered the housing, cover, both sizes of plugs from my local dealer and they were cheaper than ordering from Pelican parts which is my goto parts supplier. Not sure why Pelican has the one plug listed as NLA. The cover needs to come from the Fatherland.

Right thats a good idea. I was thinking that could be an option. I did see it called an oil plug. The picture on pelican doesn't even look like a threaded plug.
Thx

OK thx. I did actually consider the angle of the cover. I guess I'll bite the bullet on that one. I also would rather have the ease of easily unscrewing the fan clutch instead of the fight it is now to take off the fan. Thx for the reply.

Thermostat housing & cover & water pump

I recently did a bunch of work to my 79 635csi. I had the head off to replace a blown HG. I had the original rad recored. I finally started the car and after a bit of fiddling with the Distributor position it ran pretty good, although a little noisy. After a few minutes I noticed the temp needle cli...
