Re: Crank position sensor

It should be fairly easy, although like the speed and reference sensors I cn imagine they may get stuck and be a bitch. What car? e12s don't have those

Re: Interior e28 twin light upgrade

Funny I've read this post a few times and thought adding the second light was a good idea. I just went and looked at my car and it already has two lights in the headliner. It also has a nice feature if you play with the switches, you can turn on one or off both lights with the the switch on the driv...

Re: M30B35 cylinder head bolt/Rocker shaft issues

OK Mike, maybe thats why this is always coming up. I didn't know that m20s are T to Y. No experience with that engine

Re: M30B35 cylinder head bolt/Rocker shaft issues

For some reason that misinformation keeps coming up. The m30 headbolts aren't torque to yield. They're reusable. I'm still curious whats the measurement for the shoulder for your aftermarket bolts vs the stock ones? If you don't have stock ones I think I can dig some out

Re: M30B35 cylinder head bolt/Rocker shaft issues

Correction, shim was on rear end of rocker shaft. Eric, this seems weird to me. The rocker shafts are just slid into the head and are kind of floating there until the head bolts lock them into position. Putting a shim on one end or the other wouldn't really be able to change the position that the h...

Re: M90 Part throttle hesitation

I'm surprised to hear there were rubber seals in the the TB. I just took mine completely apart and never saw anything like that. That I can remember anyways  I wish I could just print a part when I need it! I'll try to measure the resistance of my coil tomorrow. I think I tested it previously ...

Re: M90 Part throttle hesitation

Its interesting, I wonder how many of us have this issue without the whistle and have no idea. I have seen that Porsche 944s actually have rubber bushings to seal the TB butterfly pivot which I thought was a good idea. ( don't own one but maybe someday). Looking forward to pics. Are those 16 In Mahl...

Re: M90 Part throttle hesitation

I agree vacuum could be it. What happens when you pull the dipstick while idling? I would also suggest getting a spare ecu for that engine. It should be the black one ,114. Hard to find as it only came on the M90. I think the ecu's can always be suspect on these cars not just the M90. For $100-150 h...

Re: Headlight R + R

Gary, great post, I've heard of the oven method of prying the glass off. I just was too lazy to try. Although grinding the caulking off the bulb holder to gain access to the reflector part of the lamp was a lot of time wasted as well. I may try that glass removal method some time. I assume those Hel...

Re: Headlight R + R

Gary, Thats about what I did. It seems to me the only way is to actually scrub the crap off. I also experimented with a bad lamp and cut of the rear metal bulb housing from the reflector using a dremel to cut the caulking/epoxy. then you can get in there easier. It worked well. Then used rubber caul...

Re: Headlight R + R

I'v spent a lot of time trying to clean out used euro lamps. Even older brand new lamps seem to get that fogging. Its damn hard to clean out. Ive used a stick with bits of rag and cleaner to try to scrub the fog off the glass with some success but access is also very hard. theres lots of posts onlin...

Re: 77 530i Auto trans "kick down" linkage picture?

OK, interesting. I was just looking at pics of my engine in my gallery project posting and my 77 doesn't have that cable coming from the TB. I do remember a cable I think that was attached to the throttle linkage down under where it connected to the gas pedal. I think.... :? I have to go through my ...
