Only if you are going to run E28 era engine management. Well, Megasquirt has to pick up TDC and timing from somewhere, but the later B35 era using a toothed wheel at the front of the crank would probably be easier.

That's how the book says to do it, but I've always carefully cut it away with an exacto knife. I've heard of some people getting carried away that way, damaging the barbs and ending up with leaks, but I've never had a problem. And I'm nervous about heat and gasoline. There is an additional seal, but...
