Re: Replacement A/C Compressor
Agree, Mike. Fresh rebuild with fresh hoses and couplings and a good shot of R12 and we should be good. I don't go crazy for really cold temperatures.

Re: Replacement A/C Compressor
The e12 uses the same bracket and compressor as the 74 e9, it is an axial compressor and impossible to find. I have a spare that I can have rebuilt with all new seals and bearings by the same guy that rebuilt mine. If you go with a Sanden style you will need a new bracket as the original bracket do...

Re: Suspension Upgrade
Thanks, much, Patina. I put the car up on the lift and with the Bilsteins fully extended checked the H&R springs and the springs were still well-seated.

Re: Suspension Upgrade
"The longer B6 shaft on the HDs used with lowering springs will sometimes unseat the spring from its perch!!" I have seen that comment, but never in an authoritarian way. Nobody that had done it and experienced the spring coming off the perch. And, as importantly to me, I don't see how a ...

Re: Intermittent Starting Issue
Is it possible that the ignition switch itself is bad? I had the same issue with my 1990 Corvette ZR1. It was the ignition switch.

Re: Suspension Upgrade
Couldn't find much here on what sway bars people like, but, since I am getting the sway bars from Ireland, they should work well. I installed ST 52015 on mine (28mm front/22mm rear), which I think is the set IE sells. I think you'll be very pleased if you're still running the stock sway bars. Thar'...

Thanks. Yes. Saw that thread and again seems like things should be fine. Couldn't find much here on what sway bars people like, but, since I am getting the sway bars from Ireland, they should work well.

Suspension Upgrade
Just to be sure I haven't screwed up, let me ask. I have Bilstein B6's all round. I ordered the Ireland Engineering sway bars and a set of H & R Sport springs (40mm lower). Sound reasonable? I didn't really know about the springs but read later that the springs from the factory on the US introdu...

Re: Malaga Red E12 for Sale on Bringatrailer......
I think I prefer the Alpina's and would put some on, if I can bring myself to switch from the stock steel wheels and bottle caps. It is sitting next to my e30 m3 with Alpina's. :) As I said, the car has headers and Bilsteins on the rear anyway. There is a small amount of valve clatter, although Euro...

Re: Malaga Red E12 for Sale on Bringatrailer......
Yeah, the hood you have was for the air filter box of dual carb M30 Euro cars, M10 cars had a completely flat hood. Then, kinda like the dash vents, BMW standardized the hood for all 1977-81 cars Euro and US, 4 and 6 cyl. The Coupe King has Alpina copies at a much lower price, that also happen to b...

Re: Malaga Red E12 for Sale on Bringatrailer......
Unless you can uncover a hidden stash of bottom seat cushions (they're not really horsehair btw, more like a rubberized birds nest that crumbles over time and use) finding an upholstry shop that can carve the cushions out of foam will be a quicker fix. Just a note on seat cushions. The original OEM...
