I bought all the pieces from the dealer last year including the hex nut. Mine were loose and I found that part #15 "damper ring" had deteriorated. Replaced it and problem solved!

Re: How to adjust front head restraints?
Yes and sometimes they're a little sticky. May have to pull or push with authority.

Re: Fuel/air mixture adjustments
I bought this one on Amazon with the intentions of using it as a test tool and not a permanent installation. I hope to try it this weekend:

Re: Fuel/air mixture adjustments
Thank you gentlemen! I've ordered an air/fuel ratio gauge to see the mixture during driving conditions for my own piece of mind.

Re: Fuel/air mixture adjustments
Thanks Mike, I've looked at that and see it's exactly in the range when idling. But my understanding is the ECU only understands start up, idle, wide open throttle and adds fuel in relation to throttle opening. Isn't there a need to compensate for less potent fuel (compared to the late 70's) and fre...

Fuel/air mixture adjustments
Hello All, After having my AFM refreshed by Bavarian Restorations and installing a free flow exhaust I find the car runs very lean going by plug color - light grey. I have not yet used an air fuel mixture meter to accurately measure the mixture. Timing is set correctly and there are no vacuum leaks....

Re: Sport Shock Options
My guess is that Mr. Ritchie’s reply is from the comfort of his office chair and sourced from several generations old electronic documents. Maybe that boot fits some strut housing for another application but not the e12 I own. The inner diameter of the boot is significantly larger than the outer dia...

Re: Sport Shock Options
I'm using the M535i inserts with H&R springs that are about 1.5" lower. Here's the response from Bilstein and feel free to email or call them, maybe they'll get the message to bring back the B8. They're saying the B6's are for stock springs but will also work with lowered suspensions. I als...

Re: Sport Shock Options
I have an email from Bilstein stating the B6 is appropriate for this application and they have no plans to resume B8 production. The B6’s have been unavailable until very recently and I strongly recommend grabbing a set before they’re gone. There are no good alternatives if you want to maintain the ...

Re: ANOTHER injector leaking
Cory, I've used Mr. Injector several times and am always pleased with the results. For $17.50 per injector, they're ultrasonically cleaned and the service includes a before and after flow chart, new correct hoses, stainless steel clamps and the rubber seals (no affiliation). If you go this route, be...

Re: Electronic Control Unit (ECU) harness compatibility
Looks like the e12 up to 79 is different than an 80/81 but I'm sure they could be made to work. Some components like the jules verne device are located in different places so maybe just a question of length (?). I have no experience with a thermal reactor car. E24's look similar but I believe there'...

Re: E28 drive shaft compatibility
An 85 e28 and a 80/81 e12 have different part numbers so likely not a direct fit. Driveshafts can be professionally shortened though. I would think there are plenty of used ones out there. You’ll need the correct bell housing for the analog speedo drive if you don’t already have it.
