Re: Fuel/air mixture adjustments

I was curious and googled spark plug color. I found at least 6 websites that state the correct or good color for a spark plug is light grey to tan. So maybe your plugs are the right color. What color are you expecting or hoping for? My plugs are a lightish tan. Which means nothing as I'm sure my eng...

Re: Suspension Trouble Shooting

And don't forget all tires of a given size are neither the same size nor the same shape. Some will be more of an oval cross section, some more of a rectangle. Don't forget the aux spring goes on the front too, if you're borderline that could make the difference. Mike, as usual all very good info on...

Re: Sport Shock Options

Bert, that reminds me also that when I talked to Bilstein USA regarding the fact that the HD or b6 shock will allow the the shock to extend enough that the lowering spring will come out of its perch, the rep just tut tuted and said" where did you hear that, the problem with these forums is that...

Re: Sport Shock Options

I've had a similar experience with talking and emailing a tech rep at Bilstein USA. They recommend the same shock for stock and sport or lowering springs. Which seems to contradict everything else I've read. Bilstein seems to lack a lot of knowledge about theses cars. In the end they weren't much he...

Re: ANOTHER injector leaking

I redid my fuel rail with new hose hose and clamps. Works great, hasnt leaked a drop. Seems weird to me that BMW didn't use clamps but just hose and little cups but that hose was tough as hell to remove.

Re: Coolant Temp. sensor

When I disassembled another BMW engine someone had used some sort of green sealer. It seemed like an epoxy. I used acetone and lacquer thinner and scotchbrite pads to scrub it off. It still took forever. Mike when I installed my thermostat housing and cover I just used the BMW paper caskets. Would t...

Re: Do e31 style 8 wheels fit?

For what its worth, I've seen these wheels on a 528i that was for sale near me. The car had been lowered on bilstein sports and spax springs. They seemed to fit fine. I don't think the fenders had been rolled. I think they require hub centric rings. Probably easy to clean as well.

Re: Coolant Temp. sensor

If you ever order a new OEM cover again, order the bleed screw as well because the cover doesn't include the screw. ^^ Right, I commented earlier that the bleed screw was included but I remember now the screw was purchased separately and I put them together and put the cover back in the box. A year...

Re: Not the AFM but what?

OK I'm going to offer my advise even though you obviously are way ahead of me in technical diagnosis skills. It sounds to me like your problem is intermittent. IE power to pump sometimes. Could it me the combination relay? I have taken the older style combo relay apart on my 79 e24. Its the old meta...

Re: Coolant Temp. sensor

Anti seize probably wouldn't hurt but like the pic above the new bleed screw has a hex head so its probably not going to be a problem unless you leave it for 40 years.

Re: Coolant Temp. sensor

Only peripherally related - the bleed screw on my 81 528i is ... or was ... the slotted one, optimistically designed for a flat blade screwdriver. It's really stuck. I've tried dribbling different types of thread oil on it for weeks at a time, and it won't budge. The slot is mangled now. I confess ...

Whew ,i just read this post though and it answered most everything I was wondering about. Now I just hope the 528i hoses are still available. After removing my EGR crap I was amazed at how many hoses there were under the intake bananas. Thx Mike, Chris and Robert

I just treated my dried out leather seats with Leatherique and they are definitely softer than they were before I used it. The cleaner started to remove some of the red color in the leather so didn't use it. I've probably applied the rejuvenator 4 times. I just wiped it on and wiped it off. In the s...
