I think the consensus is that this nut is not going to be re-used. Tonight I am going to get a nice new drill and treat it as if i was drilling a ring gear off a flywheel. If you can borrow a large enough impact gun, it will come off. I've tried with a large 36mm wrench and by blocking the flywheel...

It sort of makes sense but how about a picture? I think that would help me decide if the previous owner might have engineered a 'mod' or not.

Re: '80 No Spark Problem

I've narrowed my no-start problem to No Spark. I'm getting voltage to the + side of the coil with the key on. The coil checks out good when I run it in my other car. I was leaning toward the Pulse Transmitter in the distributor. I bought a distributor from an '81 at the salvage yard, swapped it in ...

Re: Newbie with a No-Start problem

Food for thought... Thanks guys, I'll look into a rebuild kit. Related note: I found a Chilton BMW: Coupes and Sedans 1970-88 that covers the North American 5-series as well as a myriad of the "2000" models. While I have but a lowly 2.0 litre, I am assuming I'll find info I can use in thi...

Re: Depress clutch, nothing happens

Hi folks, Well, I'm finally to a point where I have some time to spend on the old girl. 1973 520 She has a dead battery after a winter of neglect, but aside from that when I pushed in on the clutch I can't feel any resistance other than the spring at the top of the pedal. Confirmed it today with a ...

my factory manual shows a strange thin wall socket like a O2 sensor socket for EGR removal. I think for most mortals, the way you did it is best

Don't pre 77 have solid rotors? I suspect the calipers don't have the spacers in the middle of the halves?

I'm limited to what I can legally remove from the car for my class. :(

Another race seat and remove evaporator (pain) and maybe lighter wheels at some point

Here's an unusual view from Sunday:

No AC, one race seat. 19 lb battery in trunk. And I don't weigh anything either

Light exhaust too.
