Glad to see you were able to answer your own question. Indeed, when upgrading from l-jet to Motronic, some components will be deprecated, as mechanical methods of engine timing (e.g. hall-effect sensor/distributor interconnection) are taken over by other methods.

The old headgasket is 89mm, but the new cylinders are 92mm. The old headgasket should block out the piston/cylinder wall void quite nicely when spraying fresh cerakote.

Find a metal shaft of exact diameter of the speedometer drive, put heavy weight oil inside the hole, and press the metal shaft downwards. I would heat up the fitting, but expect to replace the brake fluid afterwards. Heat solves most all rust problems. Trick is to heat it to cherry red and let it cool. Then it should be an easier removal.

Hmmm...interesting. I wouldn't have guessed that BMW would have sandwiched the brake line between the frame and a concealing sheet metal. I would be interested to see a photo if you can get a good shot of it.
