Re: " Ended" sources for finding parts NLA.

Just had persistence pay off and thought of this thread. My E12 needs minor rust repair around the front and rear glass. The P.O. of my car started stockpiling new parts to replace the front and rear window trim when the rust is repaired. I completed the stockpile but two of the corner pieces are NL...

Lube AC Blower Motor?

My AC blower motor has started the squeak of death. Is there a way to lube the AC blower motor without removing and opening the AC box?

Thanks, Cory

Re: Excellent parts source

I have also had good luck with Blunt for my E30s. They put together good packages of OEM maintenance parts at good prices, and sourced a muffler from the OEM supplier (Eberspaecher).

Re: '81 windscreen wipers

I bought the correct BMW part. Everyone has a different philosophy, but how is it not worth it to pay $7.00 for the OE parts that you know will fit on the first try? Part # 61 61 1 353 754. About $3.50 each.

Re: '81 windscreen wipers

You need the rubber dampers. Replaced mine earlier this year. Well worth the few $$$ and minor effort. I also looked at the parts diagram and said, "Holy cow," but it was really simple to figure it out while taking them apart.

Re: Windscreen washer tubing

I replaced mine last year and had trouble finding hose with the same OD. All the OEM replacement hose I could find with the correct ID had a larger OD, so I just used that and it works fine. The BMW part number is 61661357388. When considering thinner aftermarket hose, remember that the hose makes a...

Re: Help identifying vacuum hose

I posted my question over at bigcoupe.com and they hooked me up! The part number for the hose is 11611259414 . The lower part it's connected to is called the "additional air slide valve" (part #11611255284). Both of these parts are located on "engine cooling" diagrams at RealOEM,...

Re: Help identifying vacuum hose

So here are some better pics from my actual car. The hose I'm trying to replace is circled in red in the first photo. The second photo is a close-up of what it connects to on the other end. Thanks, Cory https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1837/43809489051_a0ca2f8f50_z.jpg BMW E12 vacuum hose 1 by cory58f...

Re: Help identifying vacuum hose

Thanks Eric. From the diagram, it looks to me like it might connect to the vacuum limiter or electronic control valve. The picture I posted is one I found on Google and I see some components that have been removed from my car. I will poke around some more tonight and try to get a better pick of my c...

Help identifying vacuum hose

I split a vacuum hose removing it from the intake manifold and need to replace it. I can't find it on any of the RealOEM diagrams, so I'm hoping the wisdom of Firstfives can point me in the right direction. The hose I need is outlined in red on this picture. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/862/298948...

Re: A/C Compressor Upgrade

Well, I decided that, based on the other things done to the car by the PO, there was only a minimal chance that he had converted to R134a and left all of the original R12 hoses and fittings. I can't be 100% sure, but the drier looks original. The system was blowing about 70 degrees from the top ven...

I always thought auto/marine leather was finished differently than furniture leather. Is that not correct?

Re: A/C Compressor Upgrade

Some things I've learned from dealing with AC problems on my old Bimmers. 1. If you don't know what refrigerant you have, that also means you don't know what oil you have. I can't remember the names of the different oils, but the main oil that was used with R12 is not compatible with R134. The only ...

Re: A/C Compressor Upgrade

Good to know about the R12, I was considering doing the same conversion to R134 and a parallel condenser. If you switched to the parallel condenser, how were you going to mount it to the car? And the fan to the condenser? The stock unit has the brackets spot welded to the condenser frame. Rob Siege...
