Looking to glue a broken grill back together, anyone have a recommendation on a type of glue that will work?

I heard a popping and then a steady tic - tic - tic that changed with speed yesterday. I brought the car back and ran the car with the rear wheels off the ground. If the car ('81, stock 2. is sitting at a light and I pump the brakes, I find the idle will climb 3-400 rpm and then settle back down. Is this normal? If not, what should I check? TIA.
