Re: Starter Bosch sr441x help
The bottom terminal at 6:00 is from the ignition switch. The old SR-71 used the upper terminal to bypass the ballast resistor only when cranking. Remove it entirely as it is still connected to the coil and it can ground out if loose and destroy your harness which just happened to an e9 friend.

Re: When a brake vacuum booster fails?
When the MC leaks brake fluid fills the booster, it isn’t engine oil.

Re: Cv joint
You can use the straps from a Porsche, they hook around and avoid the raised parts. All aftermarket kits have this issue.

You have to pry them up gently starting at the rear edge, I have used a plastic trim tool, even tapping upwards with a mallet.

The overdrive Getrag is a 265/6, the close ratio box is a 265/5. The cases all say 262.

Re: AC ideas and suggestions
Go with a new parallel flow condenser it will make a huge difference. I used a wing cell and Layne Wylie bracket with a Sanden 508 but didn’t change the condenser, it is still R12 but only gets down to 43 degrees in SoCal.

Re: Reverse flushing the heater core?
I don’t think it really matters. We just had this discussion on the e9 Forum. On a CS water enters on top from manifold, on a CSi it enters on bottom, same heater. Some say it enters on top from back of head on a CS, it’s not going to make a difference.

Re: Getrag trans 260 and 265?
I would add that if you need a speedo drive gear then you need to look for these: The 265/6 was introduced in 1980 through 1982 on the e12, e23, e24 and e28. The later 265/6 boxes can be modified to to add the speedo drive but you would need the gear on the output shaft and the speedo assembly itsel...

Could the plug be 22x1.5 with a 22x27 washer, 11 12 1 257 379? It is shown in 11/9 which is cylinder head though.

Gordon, Have you checked tie-rod ends and control arm ball joints? I just replaced a worn idler arm bushing that was loose and I didn’t even know it, it fixed a slight wander issue on the freeway.
