I've seen pictures of them on e28, just wondering if anyone knows for sure that they fit our cars.

By the authority vested in me,... if they fit E28's and E24's the lug bolt pattern is the same as E12's. Do check the tire width and offset.

use the calculator at https://www.willtheyfit.com/ to get a full understanding of the potential impact of changes wheels with various tire sizes will have.
Re: Do e31 style 8 wheels fit?
ET15 will probably work in the front but might rub in the back depending on what size tires you are using. 205s should be ok, 225 will probably require rolling the fenders.
E28s aren't exactly the same in wheels/tires, but very, very close. Look up ShawnDs guide. Especially the spreadsheet which is linked about halfway down. If anything, E12s seem to have just a touch more room in the wheel wells than E28s.

That is very true, with the European Car magazine Barnyard Bimmer 1977 530i project they tried 16x7.5 in Hartge rims. These fit e28s fine, but they noticed rubbing on full lock with the e12, and also had to roll the fender lips to get some clearance with the camber change when cornering.Mike W. wrote: ↑Sat Apr 07, 2018 2:57 pm ET15 will probably work in the front but might rub in the back depending on what size tires you are using. 205s should be ok, 225 will probably require rolling the fenders.

For what its worth, I've seen these wheels on a 528i that was for sale near me. The car had been lowered on bilstein sports and spax springs. They seemed to fit fine. I don't think the fenders had been rolled. I think they require hub centric rings. Probably easy to clean as well.
