M30 B28 head gasket

Post by Bareld »

Hallo All.

My M30B28 engine has bad compression. I bought another block without the head so my plan is the swop the engine and keep my own cilinder head.

I removed a gasket as shown right, the brown one. Can i also use the other type in the picture, the black one. In other words; does it matter whits one to take?
My pistons have the piano top.

As long as it's the right size, and not say a 3.5 gasket for an engine with a much larger bore, you should be fine. The gasket likely has 2.5/2.8 on it somewhere.

Bareld,

Check out www.realoem.com and make sure the part number matches with the gasket you want to use. When selecting your BMW, click on the "classic" section; there, you will see our E12's listed. Select your year and model and the engine section will have exactly what you are looking for.

Hope that helps! :)
