Hello, I am looking for a new or NOS chain tensioner. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Steve.

They were used on a wide variety of models and are still available new. A BMW dealer is the most reliable choice but I’d guess lots of aftermarket suppliers have them as well.

Just did some internet searching an looks like this part is NLA from BMW. I've had the best luck sourcing NLA parts by setting up a perpetual search on eBay that notifies me if the part is listed for sale.

There seems to be an aftermarket option available on Amazon. Part # MTC 1082. Have no idea of the quality.

BMW has zero in stock in NA and AG. The part is officially available but shows 870 currently backordered. Gonna be tough to find one anywhere. This is likely a part that was originally sub-contracted and now needs a high enough demand for BMW to order a new batch. How high beyond 870 is anyone's guess. You could try engine builders like Kormann or Metric Mechanic. They could also give you an idea on failure rates if you want to consider a used one.
