Starts and dies.

Post by T.Hanson »

Just curious. I removed the (valve cover style) aux air valve, cleaned and tested it to see the slide be open from the freezer, close as it warmed. I timed the engine but haven't messed with the big brass air screw on the throttle body because it's a bear to turn amidst all the harness wires.

Start the car, no throttle it will poop out to dead. Give it gas it will stay running, but holding the throttle at any RPM will drop, to want to be revved.

Until the temp gauge rises to normal, then all is well. Idles at 850, holds RPM. The plan is to switch in good clean pieces ( distributor, AFM, throttle body, plugs, filters, etc.) but until then, what's the most likely location of the turd in the clubhouse ?
