Not the blades, the stems they are attached to. Attempting to tighten the nuts, they just spin.
The exploded parts drawing looks like the axles are one piece, connected to the cam levers under the cowling. Access requiring the removal of the panel across the firewall.
What am I missing ? Do the axle threads want Dremel tool, wire clean up to allow easy nut tightening,... without removing the firewall panel ?
Or must the panel be removed, to solve the problem ?

Without seeing it, I would guess it's the rubber bushings they're mounted in, that the nut tightens down onto. I replaced them when I had the whole assembly out
when the engine was out so I cheated and can't say how difficult it would normally be. Once out the whole thing disassembles, but again I suspect it's the rubber bushings.
Called damper ring in BMWs sometimes convoluted speak.

If the posts that the arms attach to are smooth, they are shot. The splined attachments are ribbed to bite into the wiper arms and hold them properly. The nut is just for attachment torque. No ribs, no bite. I have a good used wiper motor assembly, about all it needs is a clean-up. If the arms are bad, just buy them new. It is not too challenging to replace and clean it up once out of the car.

If it'll help to see the real thing, here are photos of the broken wiper transmission from my car.

I had my wiper motor out a while back, 'twas pretty simple, and I recall that the wiper axle was pretty accesible through the firewall panel. I have the looseness problem too and never knew there was a rubber grommet until this thread.
Saw one of these today at a car show: Consulier GTP Kinda curious story. Pretty cool, radiator in the rear grill, among other things. Looked fun as all get out to drive.
