I posted a while ago rodents got into my intake last summer and started nesting in the blower fan. I cleaned it out then but while I was doing my EFI project I wanted to guarantee it wouldn't happen again. I read that to stop rodents in buildings you can use stainless steel wool because they can't chew it or move it, nor will it rust so I stuffed some into the two side entry points/drain holes. You can see these when you take the intake/blower motor cover off (hint: undo the brake line supports to make removal easy).
This might help people who also park their car in a garage and might not check in it every day like me. Because rodents in the fresh air intake is something you absolutely do not want.

Re: Block rodents from your fresh air intake
Apparently Irish Spring soap shavings are quite effective in repelling the little buggers.

Re: Block rodents from your fresh air intake
I had heard that, plus it would make the Fresh Air smell good. I will try it.
I just know that area gets wet and is designed as a gutter so I wanted something that wouldn't wash away in the water, but also wouldn't rust. I'll keep an eye on it, but supposedly it shouldn't rust very quickly.

Regular steel wool will rust in a day. Try stainless steel wool or brass wool.

My bad, meant to state that yes I used stainless steel for the rust resistance definitely. I'd still keep an eye on it, but brass wool sounds like it might be an even better idea.PatinaBeforePolish wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 4:29 pm Regular steel wool will rust in a day. Perhaps brass or stainless soaked with WD-40?
